Obituary of Robert Vernon Hunter ~ 2008

Robert Vernon Hunter, age 68 of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Sunday September 28, 2008 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of McDowell County, he was born on May 15, 1940 to the late Woodrow Wilson Hunter and Eliza Jane Burgin Hunter. Mr. Hunter retired from The Norfolk Southern Railroad and was a former Pilot Instructor and flew for The SC Forestry Service. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and brother.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Nellie Dean Hunter of the home; two children, Robert W. Hunter and wife Lisa and Steven T. Hunter and wife Tammy all of Spartanburg, SC; one brother Charles D. Hunter and wife Sharon of Rock Hill, SC; a sister-in-law Annette Hunter of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, Todd Hunter and wife Roxanna and Morgan Hunter; two great grandchildren, Breanna and Bryson and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday September 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM at North Spartanburg Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Terry Miller and Scott Cannon officiating. The family received friends from 10:00-11:00 AM one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery in North Carolina.
