Obituary of Beulah Mae Reel Laney ~ 2008

Mrs. Beulah Mae Reel Laney, age 87 of Marion passed away Friday November 28, 2008 at The McDowell Hospital. A native of McDowell County, Mrs. Laney was born December 10, 1920 and was a daughter of the late Lester Jason Reel and Maude Lawing Reel. She was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church and was retired from McDowell County Schools. Preceding Mrs. Laney in death was her husband Charles Laney.
Left to cherish Mrs. Laney’s memory are her son Eddie Laney and his wife Wanda of Marion, daughter Karen Laney McEntire and her husband John of Old Fort; three brothers: Haskel Reel, L. D. Reel and Bernard Reel, all of Marion; two sisters: Myrtle Greene of Marion and Erlene Shuknecht of Cape Coral, Florida; five grandchildren: Michelle Revis and husband Chris, Jonathan McEntire, Hayley McEntire, Erin Rayfield and husband Brad and Lindsey McEntire and three great grandchildren: Morgan, Maddie and Hayden. A number of nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Laney.
Funeral services were held Sunday November 30, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. John Baker officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial was in Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday December 1, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sugar Hill Baptist Church General Fund 657 Mudcut Road Marion, NC 28752.
