Obituary of Myrtle Louise Cabe Lowery ~ 2009

Mrs. Myrtle Louise Cabe Lowery, 94, of Old Fort, NC, passed away on Monday January 26, 2009 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Ridge Crest, NC. Mrs. Lowery was born on November 28, 1914 in Macon County, NC to the late Thomas and Dorthea Cabe. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband Marshall Lowery; one daughter Betty Carnahan of Dumas, TX; one infant daughter, two sisters, Nellie Henson and Lassie Ward; two brothers, Roy Cabe and Harold Cabe.
Left to cherish Mrs. Lowery’s memory are one daughter Mona Jarrett and husband Fred of Old Fort, NC; one son Phillip Lowery and wife Elizabeth of Old Fort, NC; one sister Bernice Davis of Bryson City, NC; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson. Also surviving Mrs. Lowery are one son-in-law James P. Carnahan of Dumas, TX; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Dixon McCall of Raleigh, NC and Agnes Holtsclaw and husband Garlan of Pfafftown, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lowery was a member of First Baptist Church in Old Fort.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at Kirksey Chapel in Old Fort with Rev. Duane Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Old Fort Meals on Wheels. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain Ridge Wellness Center for the loving care extended to Mrs.
