Obituary of Lucille Grindstaff Lytle ~ 2009

Lucille Grindstaff Lytle, 76, of Old Fort, went home to be with her loving Savior on Sunday January 25, 2009 at McDowell Hospital while under Hospice care. Her prayers were answered as she entered Heaven to see her Jesus face to face and to be reunited with her cherished husband whom she had greatly missed. She was born March 2, 1932 in McDowell County, NC to the late George Grindstaff and Ollie Gibson Grindstaff. Lucille was a Christian sharing her deep faith and love of God with everyone she met. She was retired from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. She enjoyed her grandchildren, needlework, eBay shopping, watching birds and her many dear friends. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Bob Lytle and one son-in-law Terry Smith.

Following after her are one son David Lytle and wife Loretta of the home; three daughters, Sandra Carpenter and husband J.W. of Old Fort, Susan Bolick and husband Lynn of Lenoir, NC and Robin Smith of Old Fort; four very special grandchildren, whom Gramma loved very much, Rylie Nicole, Dawson Robert, Dylan Reid Lytle all of the home and Nathan Robert Smith; two brothers, Glenn Grindstaff and wife Nancy of Marion and Ray Grindstaff and wife Joyce of Wheelwright, KY; one sister Joyce Ann Grindstaff of Old Fort, NC; and a host of family and friends.

A service will be held to celebrate Lucille’s life at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 28, 2009 at Kirksey Chapel in Old Fort with Dr. John Akers, her former boss with BGEA, and Rev. Chester West officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday January 27, 2009 at Kirksey Chapel. Pallbearers that will be serving are: David Lytle, Lynn Bolick, J.W. Carpenter, Nathan Smith, Dawson Lytle, Dylan Lytle, Glenn Grindstaff and Ray Grindstaff.
