Carrol Eston Marler, 78, of Marion passed away Monday November 17, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville after an extended illness. He was born in McDowell Count to the late Jeter Benjamin Marler and Rosa Jane Lavender Marler.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He worked as production manager with The McDowell News and retired after 31 years of employment. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Dallas Ray Marler.
He is survived by his wife Delores Odom Marler of the home; 2 sons, Alan Marler & financee Julie Ball of Arden, David Marler and wife Rebecca of Marion; 2 grandsons, Cameron & Logan; 1 granddaughter, Sissy.
Services will be held at Old Fort Kirksey Chapel on Thursday November 20, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Doug Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 19, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Old Fort Kirksey Chapel. Burial will be in WNC Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain. Kirksey Funeral Home, Old Fort will be assisting the family.
