Obituary of Clifton “Cliff” Albert Mode ~ 2008

Clifton “Cliff” Albert Mode, 82, passed away Wednesday November 5, 2008 at his residence. He was born in McDowell County to the late C.Y. Young Mode and Mary Martha Dobson Mode. He was the owner and operator of Modes Service Station in Glenwood for 40 years. He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Frank and Floyd Mode.
He is survived by his wife Faye Lawing Mode of the home; 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Lawing and wife Willette of Glenwood, Terry Lawing and wife Sandi of Forest City; a sister-in-law Mary Mode of Glenwood.
Services were held at Glenwood United Methodist Church on Sunday November 9, 2008 at 3 PM with The Rev. Richele Sampl and Rev. Larry Scott officiating. The body lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family received friends on Saturday November 8, 2008 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Kirksey-McCall Memorial Chapel in Marion. Burial was in the Glenwood Community Cemetery. Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion will be assisting the family.
