Obituary of Walter Fred Pack ~ 2008

Walter Fred Pack, age 84 of Nebo passed away Friday December 5, 2008 at Hospice of Rutherford County. A native of McDowell County, he was born on August 3, 1924 to the late Walter Gray Pack and Jemima Lovina Fender Pack. Fred enjoyed singing Southern Gospel Music and was a self-employed barber providing this service to the community for more than thirty years. Mr. Pack was a US Army Veteran and served his country during WWII.
Surviving are his wife Margaret Edwards Pack of the home and two children: Sharon A. Pack, daughter of Marion and Terry W. Pack, son of High Point, NC; one grandson Jeremy S. Pack of High Point; three sisters: Ethel Kaylor of Marion, Zora Jane Cole of Texas, Florence Hensley of Old Fort and a brother Leonard Pack of South Carolina.
A funeral service was held on Monday December 8, 2008, 2:00 PM at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Ray Stockton and Rick Wood officiating. The family received friends from 1:00-2:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. Military Honors were provided by a detachment from Fort Bragg.
