Obituary of John Fleenor Stewart ~ 2009

Mr. John Fleenor Stewart, age 90, of Salisbury formerly of Marion, passed away Friday January 16, 2009 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC. Mr. Stewart was born in Bristol, TN on July 1, 1918 and was a son of the late Samuel Herbert Stewart and Fannie Blevins Stewart. He was a member of Hefner Memorial Baptist Church for 54 years, and he was employed by American Thread Company for over 42 years. He was a US Army Veteran, having served in WWII. Preceding Mr. Stewart in death was his wife Lena Duncan Stewart.
Left to cherish Mr. Stewart’s memory are two sons: Roy Stewart and his wife LaVerne of Iron Station, NC and Ronald Stewart and his wife Carol of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Blanche Stewart and Nell Stewart, both of Bristol TN; six grandchildren: Scott, Levi, Harmon, Mary, Karen and Jana and four great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday January 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Mark Hollifield officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment was in Beidleman Presbyterian Cemetery in Bristol, TN. Military honors were provided by the US Army.
