Bridgman, Cyril Jones (2008)

Obituary of Cyril Jones Bridgman ~ 2008

Transcribed by Joseph Cook

Cyril Jones Bridgman born January 14, 1919, died October 29, 2008 known affectionately to his family and friends as C.J. or Cy.  He was one of six beloved children born to Bridger Jones and Pauline Todd Bridgman of Glennville, Georgia.  They and all his siblings, Jane, Bobbie, Ann, Farley and Dewey had already gone home and will be there with our Lord to greet daddy.  There are those still here who loved him very much.  He has departed from his two sons, Howard and Carl and their wives Susan and Vennie and also from his two daughters (me), Pauline and my sister Melody, plus our husbands Kit and Jesse.  Daddy also leaves for now, Barbara and her husband Candino, who became as his children through histwenty-five years of marriage to Grace, Barbara’s mother and our good friend.  Grace preceded daddy to heaven’s gate on November 16, 2004.  She too is missed by all of us yet we rejoice in their peace.  Daddy left ten grandchildren, Johnny, Danny, Robby, Carla, Beverely, Shane, Miranda, Chris, Tony and Dena. He left a ton of great grandchildren, Clayton, Jessica, Sarah, Tobi, Carla, Brandon, Jacquelyn, Sarah, Megan, Chris Jr. and Dayani, plus great grandchildren, J.J., Joshua, Noah, Kristina, Kristopher and Kaylee.  Daddy and Grace will be placed beside his mom and dad in Glennville, Georgia on January 9, 2009.

Wherever daddy was there was music, most of it coming from his guitar and his ear pleasing voice.  My most cherished childhood memories are of being hustled off to bed at night, right in the middle of daddy’s time to play music.

I would go with a few moans, but I would lay on the cool floor in my room so I would be able to hear his food patting in time to the music he was playing.

Sometimes I would fall asleep right there on the floor.  I was blessed with many of those nights, because that was the way our dad ended his day.  I know in my heart there are angel bands and choirs and I’m sure daddy will be a welcome addition.  I would even be willing to bet that some of his old music making buddies have been holding a place for him.  I am sure we will often feel and emptiness, caused from his absence but even more often, we will remember with joy, the sparkle in his eyes and the warmth and fullness of his smile.  Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.  An online register is available under OBITUARIES at www.westmorelandfuneralhome.com.
