Samuel & Jane McCall to Lonon, Brown & Avery, Trustees for Methodist Church South 15 Oct 1907

Know all men by these presents that Samuel McCall and Jane E McCall his wife of McDowell in the sate of North Carolina in consideration of the sum of one dollar payable as follows paid in hand. The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and released and by these presents to drant bargain sell release and convey until R J Lonon, J G Brown and J D Avery as trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of and their successors in office as from time to time appointed according to the laws and usages of the Methodist Episcopal Church South under and pursuant to the Laws of this State all that tract of land situated in McDowell County and State of North Carolina and described as follows. To wit including the grave yard and where Old Center Church once stood begining at wagon road on the South side of the north fork and runs south nineteen poles to a Spanish Oak standing between the head of two springs thence east twenty-four poles to a blackgum thence north nine poles to the bank of the North Fork thence north 68 degrees west down the South bank up the north Fork 27 poles to the beginning containing two acres more or less to have and to hold the said premises about described together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appartenances to the same belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining unto the said trustees and their successors and assigns forever. In trust that said premises shall be used kept maintained and disposed of as a place of divine worship for the use of the ministry and membership of the Methodist Episcopal Church South residences for the use and occupancy of the preachers of the Methodist Episcopal Church South who may from time to time be appointed in said splace subject to the usages.
Discipline and ministerial appointment of said church as from time to time authorized and declared by the general conference of said church and by annual conference within whose bounds the Said premises are or may hereafter be situated whenever it shall become necessary or may be deemed expedient by the proper authorities of the said church to sell or otherwise dispose of the said bargained premises or any part thereof. They may and are herby empowered to sell or otherwise dispose of and convey the same by and through the said trustees and their successors under and pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Discipline of the said Methodisst Episcopal Church South then and at that time in force fully discharge etc of all limitations uses and trusts herein imposed and the granter or purchaser shall in no event be responsible or liable for the application or reinvestment of the proceeds of such sale. A lien is hereby expressly retained on said property to secure the payment of the unpaid purchase. And the said grantor and his wife the said so hereby waive and relinquish all right of dower and homestead in and to said premises. In testimony where of the said grantors have hereunto set their hands and seal this 15th day of October A D 1907.

McDowell County, I, J C Brown, Dept Clerk of teh Superior Court of McDowell COunty do hereby certify that Sam McCall and Jane E McCall his wife personaly appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the deed of conveyance and the said Jane E Mccall being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband toucher her voluntarily execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulsion of her said husband or eney other person and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto let the deed with this certificate be registered witness my hand this 15th day of October 1907
