Many of McDowell County citizens have their roots in surrounding counties, one of which is Rutherford County where Bill’s Creek Baptist Church is located. A wonderful resource book by Helen Mason Lu of Dallas, Texas is “Bill’s Creek Baptist Church, Two Hundred Year History, 1782-1982“.
I am privileged to have a copy of this wonderful resource and will gladly do a look-up for you. Limit your request to two individuals and include as much information as you have that will be helpful with the look-up. Please take note of complete look-up guidelines on the Look-Up Page.
I’m trying to find out information concerning the first husband(s) of Margaret “Maggie”
Jamison/Jimison/Jamerson/Jimieson/Jimmerson who was born around 1866 in
McDowell County and died in 1933 in Haywood County. She married Doctor Avery
Taylor in 1889 but she had children previously, including my grandmother “Jessie
Clementine” who married Theodore Vance Davis, my great aunt “Cora Bell” who
married Ralph Duncan, and my great uncle “Sam C” whose marital status, residence,
and date of death are unknown.
Maggie’s mother was Malinda “Lindy” C. Webb, daughter of Hiram Webb and Sarah
Hollifield. I am fairly certain Maggie’s father was James Pinckney “Pink” Jamison,
son of Alexander Jamison, but she might have been married to one of James’ brothers
at one point (possibly killed in the Civil War).
Malinda had brothers Pickney Alexander, John Columbus and James.
