Obituary of Rev. Alfred Eugene “Gene” Wilson ~ 2009

Rev. Alfred Eugene “Gene” Wilson, age 71 of Nebo went home to the Lord on Thursday March 12, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Oliver Springs, TN, he was born on October 21, 1937 to the late Luther and Osie Queener Wilson. Gene was a member of Zion Road Baptist Church in Morganton and will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He retired from Levinton Southern Devices following 19 years of service. He loved the Carolina Panthers. Gene was called to preach many years ago and always preached straight from The Book. A sister Thelma Wilson preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Click Wilson; eight children, Wanda Poteat of Nebo, Mark Wilson and his wife Renee’ of Morganton, Marty Kay Milton and her husband Terry of Morganton; Stacey Wilson of Conover, Kris Gravley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Angie Neal of Charleston, WV, Scott Richardson and his wife Tracy of Nebo and Nikki Bedford and her husband Rodney of Logan, WV; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and faithful companion, Lexi Wilson.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday March 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Road Baptist Church in Morganton with Rev. Micah Piercy officiating. The family received friends on Monday March 16 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion where the body remained until placed in the church immediately prior to the service.
