Obituary of James “Alvin” Wilson ~ 2009

Mr. James “Alvin” Wilson, age 77 of Marion passed away on Thursday January 15, 2009 at The McDowell Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was born on June 3, 1931 to the late William Alexander Wilson and Bonnie Ballew Wilson. He enjoyed volunteering at the First United Methodist Church daycare. Alvin will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. A son Ricky Lane Wilson, preceded him in death in 1976.
Surviving are his wife Faye Murphy Wilson; five children, James Eugene Wilson of Marion, Naomi Wilson Stevens and her husband Ronnie of Marion, Susie Wilson Tipton and her husband Randy of Weaverville, Kevin D. Wilson and his wife Jeanette of Marion and Genia Wilson Johnson and her husband Matt of Marion; a sister Betty Wilson Brown of Asheville; a brother Thomas Edward Wilson of Morganton; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sunday January 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Chuck Tripp officiating. The family received friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Wilson family at PO Box 3072 Marion, NC 28752.
