In the name of God Amon Decemb. 13th 1719

I WILLIAM ARMOR of the procint of Pasquotank in No. Carolina being sick and weak of body but of sound & perfect memory (praise be givon to God for the same) and knowing to uncertinly of this life and being desirous to take(?) things in ford or doe make this my Last Will & Testament in manner and form following that is to say first & principally I commend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator assurodly believing that I shall receive pardon & free reminision of all my sins of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ and my body to the earth from whence it was taken in a Christian like and decent mannor by executors hereafter named and as touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath ???? me the same shall be ?????as hereafter by this my will is expressed ???? pronouncing ????? and making void all wills and Testaments by me heretofore.

   Imprimis. I give and bequith to THOMAS ARMOR Ye Son of ELIZABETH one negro man named Harry to him and his but if the said THOMAS should die without issue that the negro shall fall to the name of ???? ARMORS again and his Wife, a bed??? a wisted  (?) ?? Rug and a pair of sheets as agoe four now pewtor basons four now dishes and six plate likewise one negro boy called Sampson bought of my Wife ELIZABETH by vortue of a letter of morny from ASHLY EUNIS as alloe(?)

   Itom. I give unto my Son THEOPHILOS ARMOR thirty pounds

   Itom. I give unto my Mother ???? clothes

   Itom. I give the remainder part of my mony to be divided between ROBT. ARMOR, JNO. ARMOR, and ANN MEAIDS

   Itom. I give unto WILLIAM BROTHERS one white horse with a black main and tale.

   Itom. I give unto the yongest child that my Wife brought one shilling

In witness I have hearunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written and I doe acknowledge this to be my Last Will and Testament.

In the name of God Amen I JUDITH GREGORY being very sick and weak but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to almight God for it do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testement in maner and form as followeth that is to say furst I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the discracion of my Exc…hereafter menthened——–

  Iom.  I give and bequeath to my well belove Son ISAAC GREGORY my new Desk

   Iom. I give and bequeath to my beloved friend MARY LOYED one cow and cluf and one three year old hefer and two head of sheep and all my gees and one new coten gown and three head of yong cattel of two years old apeas.

   Iom. I give and bequath all the rest of my estat that shall beleft after my lawfull debts be paid to be equally devided betwose my four children ISAAC, DEMSEY, MARY and LOVEY except my waring cloath to be equally devid between my two Daughters MARY and LOVEY.

  And likewise I ordain and constute and apint my well beloved Brother JOSEPH MORGEN to be my whole and sole Executer of this my Last Will and Testement as witness my hand and seal this 21th day of October 1753.

And Relinquished his right to MARK GREGORY thereupon it was ordered that MARK GREGORY have the Admin. with Will annexed ??? security in one hundred pounds proclamation money declared that the Honorable JIMPS(?) MURRAY Esq. Secretary have ???? that Letters issue dated at the Clerkes Office the 12th day of January 1764

   In the name of God Amen. This Twelueth Day of Febuary One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Nine. I ISAAC ALBERTSON of the Precsents of Pasquotank In North Carolina Planter being very sick & weeke in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to almighty God therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body. Knowing that it is appoynted for all men Once to Die I doe make and ordain this my Last Will & Testament that is to say Principly and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that give it and for my body I commend to the earth to be burried in a Christain like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the Genrel Resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldy estates where wills it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give device and dispose of the same in the form & following manner.  Imprimiss.

  Item. My will is that my well beloved Wife JEMIMA ALBERTSON should have the use of all my Land and Premissarys and like wise of the mills, my Land begins near my Spring on the swamp side and runing with a streight line along my ditch and soe to the back line soe to take in one hundred and fifty acres and likewise the use of my negros and my cattle & my hogs & my horses & my sheep & all my housel good & every thing that are min during her Natrel Life Only.

   Item. I give to my Daughter RUTH when she comes to the age of twenty one the half of all that remains if required  (Note: this part is either marked through or creased and hard to make out)   Item. Likewise I give to my Daughter RUTH the other halfe of mine after her Mothers decease remains if required

   Item. I make my well beloved Wife my hole & sole Executor of all my good and Chattles.

   Where unto I have set my hand and fixt my seal. The Day and Date above mentioned.

   The Fifth Day of June In the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven & nine four(?) I OBADIA FEAR of Alligeter In the presinck of Pascotank & County of Albinarle Planter being very sick and weak of body but in perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling into mind the mortallity of my body and knowing that it is apoynted and for all men to dye do make & ordaine this my Last Will and Testament. That is to say Princepally and first of all I give and recommend my soule into the hands of God that gave it & my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent and Christian maner. Nothing doubting but att the generall resurrection I shall receive the same againe by the almighty power of God and as tutching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following maner and form.

In the name of God amen. I John Wood of the State of North Carolina & Pasquotank County being very sick in body but of perfect sound memory knowing that God has appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First of all I  ???? my soul into the land of Almighty God that gave it and my body to be dessently buried in Christain Burial. My will and desire is for as much of my prosperity to be sold as will pay all my just debts.

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Wood one feather bed furniture  two cows and calves, two sows and pigs ten barrels of corn.

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my Loving Son Joseph Wood the east end of my plantation the loin(line) being bounded as I marked the loin(line) my selfe.

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my Loving Son William Wood the Northwest part of my land joining the land that formerly belong to John Cook. Pritchards(?) land and one horse–

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my loving Son James O Kelley Wood  the Southwest part of my land joining Joseph Wood’s part and along the Road Ditch to John Cook and Robart Spences then along a loin(line) of marked treesto the first station and one horse named Tom & one feather bed and furniture——If my Son James O. Kelley should die without a ????   ???? heair of his body the above land to be eaquelly devided between Joseph Wood & William Wood——

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my loving Daughter Susannah Wood one feather bed & furniture one beaufort one sofa and one chest.

ITEM  I give and bequeath to my loving Daughter Elizabeth Spence one feather bed & furniture.

ITEM  allso again I give & bequeath to my well beloved Wife all my property that is not before mentioned as long as she remains my widdow  and (word illegible) and then to be devided the one half to my Daughter Susannah and the other half to between my Daughter Elizabeth and all the children she now has & may have at that the time of the division shear and shear alike.

I therefore nominate and appoint my loving Son Joseph Wood & my loving Son William Wood to be my last and sole Executors to this my last will and testament Evoking all forever will or wills by me made and a knowledge this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have herein to set my hand and seal this 18th day of February one thousand eight hundred & three.

In the name of God Amen.  I JEREMIAH EVERTON of the Southwest Parish of Pasquo(torn) Presinct, being in perfect health sound and perfect memory & mind, and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life & knowing that tis appointed for all men once to dye, do hereby ordain and appoint & make this my Last Will & Testament.

In manner and Form Following Viz.

Imp. First I recommend my Soul God that gave it trusting through the merits of Christ, my Saviour to receive in mercey and my body to be buried in such Christian like maner as shall please my Exe. Hereaft. Named.

   Item. It is my will and desire that my Loving Wife HANNAH EVERTON have possess & quietly & peaceably enjoy my now dwelling plantation, together with all the land thereunto belonging or in any maner of wise apportaining (except seventy(?) five acres lying on the easter most end of my sd. dwelling plantation, divided by a courses of line trees beside the sd. dwelling plantation afsd. & JOHN CHAMBERLAIN plantation which sd. plantation is on the sd. seventy five acres, sold by me to sd. CHAMBERLAIN and after the decease of my sd. Wife it is my will & desire that my Son JAMES EVERTON should ?????(to dark) possession to whom I give the same, to him & his heirs of his body lawfull begotten forever, but if my Son JAMES should dye without lawfull heirs, then I give my afsd. plantation to my Daughter RACHEL EVERTON and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten forever.

   Item. I give my Elder Son SOLOMON EVERTON one shilling sterling money of Great Brittain, and no more, where with he shall be content.

   Item. I give my Daughter SARAH FOREHAND one shilling sterling money of Great Brittain & no more.

   Item. I give my Daughter RACHEL EVERTON one shilling sterling money of Great Brittain & no more except in the case of the Death of my Son JAMES, as is before mentioned in the clause of my will afsd.

   Item. I give my Daughter HETHORINE(?) CHAMBERLAIN one shilling sterling money of Great Brittain & no more.

   Item. I give my Son JAMES EVERTON one shilling sterling & no more except, as in the clause of this my sd will on the other side of this my sd will, doth appear more fully & at large

   Item. It is my desire the afsd. legacies, be paid my sd. children, twenty days after my decease by my executrix hereafter named.

In the name of God Amen I GEORGE ELLIS of Pasquotank precinet & province of afsd. being sick & weak of body but blessed be God of sound mind & memory, not knowing how it may please God to dispose of me, do make this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following revoaking & disallowing all former or other wills by me heretofore made and publish this to be my Last.

   Imprimis. I surrond my Soul to the mercy of Allmighty God my Saviour and my body to ye eath from whence it was taken to be buriod according to discrotion of my Exts. Hereaftor named, & as for worldly good it pleased God to possess me of here, I give as follows after my Just Debts & funorall expences are paid & discharged.

   Item. I give unto my Brother THOMAS PALIN one suit of coaths carizs(?) a coat vest & Brichos of drugott, & a shirt of garhih Hollond to be paid him in reasonable time after my docease.

   Item. I give devise & boqueath unto my Daughter ANN ELLIS all that tract of land I bought of THOMAS PALMOR lying between Little Flatty(?) Creek & Great Flatty(?) Creek known by ye name of Luinigtons(?) to her & her herss and assiinos foredver, provided, the child that my Wife now goes with be a Son, but in case it should be a Daughter then I depose & I give & bequeothe the afsd. tracts of land to be equally devided between them their herss & siiues forever.

   Item. And all the rest of my Estate of wh. kind or nature soever I desire may be equally divided between my Daughter ANN & my Loving Wife HANNAH ELLIS & the child she now goes with, in case it be born a live, but if not, then to be equally divided between my afsd. Wife and Daughter.

   Item. I doe here by nominate & appoint my afsd. Wife HANNAH ELLIS and my Brother JOHN PALIN my executor, of this my Last Will & Testament in Wittness whereunto I have here to sett my hand & seal this 30th day of Jan’y. Anno Dom 1720.

Will of Edward Mayo

NORTH CAROLINA

The 12th Day of the 8th mo: commonly called October in the year 1724 I: Edward Mayo: of the precinct of Pasquotank and the province aforesd: being very sick and weake of boddy, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, praised be ye Lord therefore; Calling to mind ye uncertainty of this life not knowing how soon it may please God to call me away: for the settling of my temporal estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless and endowed(?)  with: I do make and ordain this my last will and testament. Revoking & disannulling all other wills and testaments heretofore by me made ratifying this and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.  In manner and form following my will is: that all my just debts and funeral expenses be __?___ and fully paid  in convenient time after my decease  by my executors hereafter named.

Imprimis: I give and bequeath to my loving son Edward Mayo my plantation whereon I now live that part which is on this side the beaver(?) damm: to him and his heirs forever: but in case my said son dys without issue: my will is that my  three daughters namely Mary, Elizabeth & Sarah Mayo have all ye above mentioned plantation with ye apurtenances __?__ unto belonging to them and their heirs.

Item     I give and bequeath to my son Edward Mayo one feather bedd and furniture one pewter dish and two plates one iron pott and stone jugg also one great Bible.

Item     I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Mayo one feather bedd and furniture, one pewter dish & two plates one stone jugg and pewter dish.

Item     I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Mayo all my land on ye south side of the beaver(?) damm to her & her heirs forever also one pewter dish & two plates one stone jugg

Item     I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Mayo one feather bedd and furniture one pewter dish & two plates  one pewter bason(?)  & one stone jugg

Item     I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Mayo one feather bedd and furniture One pewter dish & two plates one ( and one stone jugg

Item     I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Mayo one feather bedd and furniture one large brass  __?___ one pewter dish and two plates one bason (?) & one stone jugg

Item     I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary Mayo all ye remaining part of my personal estate whom: I do nominate and appoint together with my loving brother Thomas Jessop my executors of this my last will and testament and it is my will that my wife shall live on my plantation during her natural life without any molestation as witness my hand the 12th day of  ye 8th month 1724
