HILLYARD (Hilliard) EVANS to ISAIAH M. PASCHALL- 1840
Deed Book 10, Page 176-177

Know all men by these presents that I HILLYARD EVANS of the County of Granville and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by ISAIAH M. PASCHALL of the same County and State the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto the said ISAIAH M. PASCHALL his exrs & admrs the following property, viz, one gray horse saddle and bridle. In trust nevertheless that whareas the aforesaid HILLYARD EVANS is justly indebted to PEYTON V. DUKE in the sum of forty dollars due by note bearing even date with this instrument and payable on the first day of Septr next (1841) and bearing interest from the first day of Jany next. Now if the said HILLYARD EVANS shall well and truly pay said note agreeable to its tenor both principal and interest then the foregoing conveyance to be void, but if he should fail to pay said debt when due, then and in that case it shall be the duty of the said ISAIAH M. PASCHALL upon being thereto required by the said PEYTON V. DUKE shall expose to sale the aforesaid property for cash after giving ten days public notic and out of the process of such sale pay to the said PEYTON V. DUKE the amt of his debt with all interest and cost and the balance if any pay over to the said HILLYARD EVANS as a trustee in this case. In witness whereof the parties have hereunto set their hands and seals this 20 day of Nov 1840.

This Indenture made this 15th day of December & in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Seven between MAJOR EVANS of the County of Granville & State of North Carolina of the one part & JAMES BLACKLEY of the other part Witnesseth that the sd MAJOR EVANS for & in consideration of the sum of Seventy one pounds Twelve Shillings & Six pence current money of this State to me in hand paid the rec't of which he doth hereby acknowledge discharge & acquit the sd JAMES BLACKLEY their heirs or assigns have bargained sold released & confirmed & by these presents doth bargain sell release & confirm to the sd JAMES BLACKLEY their heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcell of land lying & being in the County & State aforesaid said containing by estimation One hundred acres be the same more or less it is all that tract or parcel of land whereon the sd MAJOR EVANS now lives & which he purchased of JON GOWEN & lying between the lines of KEMP GOODLOE dec'd, WIL'M NAILING & THOMAS & ROBERT PRIDDEN together with all houses orchards fences waters trees ways or profits to the same belonging to the sd JAMES BLACKLEY, their heirs & assigns forever To have & to hold the above granted land & premises to the sd JAMES BLACKLEY, their heirs & assigns forever & the sd MAJOR EVANS doth him by these presents doth warrant & defend the sd land & premises to the sd JAMES BLACKLEY their heirs or assigns forever. In witness whereof the sd MAJOR EVANS hath hereunto set his hand & seal the date above written.

This Indenture made this eighteenth day of December in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Seven between MAJOR EVANS of the County Granville of the one part & ELIJAH BALL of the County of Granville of the other part Witnesseth that the sd MAJOR EVANS for an in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money hath granted bargained & sold unto the sd ELIJAH BALL one certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the County of Granville & State of North Carolina & bounded as follows Beginning on a corner Spanish oak running east 110 poles on YORK's line to a red oak on HARP's line then his line South 128 poles to a black jack on PENN's line thence his line West 110 poles to a black jack then North to the first Station containing One Hundred acres be the same more or less & the sd MAJOR EVANS against himself his heirs Exrs. Admrs. or assigns forever warrant & defend the above tract or parcel of land unto the sd ELIJAH BALL his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the sd EVANS hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal the day & date above written.

MORRIS EVANS to H. B. BRIDGERS- 1841
Deed Book 10, Page 457

This Indenture made and indented on th 28th day June 1841 by and between MORRIS EVANS of the 1st part and HENRY B. BRIDGES of the second part both of the County of Granville and state of North Carolina witnesseth that whereas the said MORRIS EVANS stands justly indebted to WYATT CANNADAY in the sum of one hundred and three dollars & fifty nine cents due by bond bearing date this day and the said MORRIS EVANS is desirous to secure the payment thereof to the said WYATT CANNADAY & heirs or assigns in consideration thereof and in further consideration thereof the sum of one dollar to him on hand paid by the said BRIDGERS before the signing sealing & delivering of these presence the receipt hereby acknowledged the said HENRY B. BRIDGERS - warrant for himself his heirs and assigns give grant bargain sell and by these presence both granted bargained sold unto the said BRIDGERS his heirs and assigns forever for the purpose here after mentioned in the following property (viz) one bay mare, one cow & calf, eleven head of hogs, growing crop of tobacco, corn & oats, household and kitchen furniture. To have and to hold the above mentioned crop & property free from all claims from hereon, whatsoever unto him the said BRIDGERS, his heirs and assigns forever interest. Nevertheless that he the said BRIDGERS his heirs or assigns may advertise if the said MORRIS EVANS should fail to pay by the twenty fifth day of December next the above mentioned sum of money advertise at three public places giving twenty days notice & sell on the premises for cash all or any part of the above mentioned crop & property so as to satisfy the above mentioned sum of one hundred & three dollars & fifty nine cents and all interest and cost and the said MORRIS EVANS for himself heirs &c covenant and agree to and with the said BRIDGERS his heirs or assigns that he and they will at all times satisfy and confirm whatsoever the said BRIDGERS may do or cause to be done in the said presence for carrying into full effect the intent and true meaning of this Indenture. In testimony of all which the said MORRIS EVANS hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first above written.

Know all men by these presents that I WINIFORD EVANS, THOMAS EVANS, ANDRIS EVANS, THOMAS PARROTT, LUCY EVANS, PETER EVANS, ALLEN EVANS, of Granville County and State of North Carolina that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by NELSON NAILLING of the County & State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby fully acknowledge have bargained sold and delivered do by these presents bargain sell and deliver unto the NELSON NAILLING one Negro Girl named JENNEY To have and to hold the said Negro Girl unto the said NELSON NAILLING his heirs & assigns forever and I the said WINIFORD EVANS, THOMAS EVANS, ANDERS EVANS, THOMAS PARROTT, LUCY EVANS, PETER EVANS, ALLEN EVANS, for myself my heirs & assigns do hereby forever warrant the said Negro Girl to the said NAILING to him his heirs & assigns clear from all person or persons laying any lawful claim to In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of April 1822.
