This Indenture made this the 26th day of June One Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Seven between JAMES KELLEY of Mecklenburg County in the State of Virginia of the one part & MAJOR EVANS of the County of Granville & State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth JAMES KELLEY for an in consideration of the sum of Fifty pounds specie to him in hand paid sealing & delivery of these presents the rect. whereof the sd JAMES KELLEY doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained sold aliened released enfeoffed & confirmed unto the sd MAJOR EVANS his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in the County of Granville & State of North Carolina on both sides of Middle Creek containing by estimation One hundred Acres be the same more or less butted & bounded as follows, to wit, begining at the white oak on JOHN ROGER's line thence a west course across Middle Creek to a white oak thence South to a white oak a corner tree on to Deep branch thence up the sd branch to a white oak near the head of the sd branch thence Northeast to the first station which above bargained land is part of a larger tract of land containing Five hundred & Eighty eight acres granted to JOHN POPE from THOMAS CHILDs Esqr, Special Agent & by a written deed conveyed the above sd One hundred acres to JAMES McGEHEE & from McGEHEE to OKELLEY his heirs assigns forever To have & to hold the sd granted bargained land & premises with every of its benefits privileges & appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said MAJOR EVANS his heirs & assigns forever to his or their proper use benefit & behoof & the said JAMES KELLEY do by these presents Warrant & will forever defend unto the sd MAJOR EVANS his heirs & assigns the aforesaid One hundred acres of land be the same more or less free & clear of all manner of Incumbrances & from the just claim of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the sd JAMES OKELLEY set his hand & seal the day & year first above written.
