JOSEPH ROBERTS to BRUENTON JONES- 1785

This Indenture made this Tenth day of December in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty five between JOSEPH ROBERTS of the County of Granville & State of North Carolina of the One part & BRUENTON JONES of the County & State aforeaid of the other part Witnesseth that the s'd JOSEPH ROBERTS for & in the consideration of the sum One Hundred & Twenty pounds of good & lawfull money to him in hand paid the rec't whereof doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold & by these presents do absolutely grant bargain & sell unto the s'd BRUENTON JONES his heirs exrs admrs of that piece tract or parcel of land formerly possessed by the s'd JOSEPH ROBERTS lying & being in the County & State afores'd Begining at a hickory in DANIEL's line thence North to a red oak joining & along ROBERT HESTER's & HENRY GRAVES' line thence to OLIVER's corner thence west to a stake thence South to a red oak in EDWARDS' line thence his line west to a white oak thence the s'd EDWARDS' line to a red oak thence along WILKERSON's line South to BENNETT's line thenc his line west to DANIEL's line thence his line North to a corner thence east along the s'd DANIEL's line to the first station containing by estimation Five hundred & ninety six acres of land be the same more or less with all & singular the premises with their & every of appurtenances unto the s'd BRUENTON JONES his heirs exrs or admrs forever to the only proper use benefit & behoof of him the s'd BRUENTON JONES his heirs &c & the s'd JOSEPH ROBERTS doth hereby oblige himself his heirs &c that warrant & forever defend the full & absolute right title possession property challenge or demand of the afores'd piece tract or parcel of land with all & singular the premises with their appurtenances from all & all manner of person or persons claiming any part or parcel thereof. In witness whereof the s'd JOSEPH ROBERTS hath hereunto set his hand & fixed his seal this day & year within written.

JOSIAH E. ROGERS to MAURICE EVANS- 1853
Deed Book 17, Page 98

This Indenture made the 8 day of February in the year of Lord 1853 between J. C. ROGERS of the first part and MAURICE EVANS of the second part all of the County of Granville and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said J. C. ROGERS for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and thirty four dollars has bargained and by these presents doth grant, bargain, and sell and deliver unto the said MAURICE EVANS his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county and state as aforesaid and on the waters of Cedar Creek adjoining the lands of CALEB ADCOCK and ARCHER DEMENTS and is bounded as follows Beginning at a white oak ADCOCK's corner running then South 28 chains to a post oak DEMENTS corner then with his line N. 69 d. West 20 chains and 20 links to the new road then with said road to the Tarborough road then with the same to beginning containing thirty eight acres 3 roads & 18 pirches be the same more or less with all & every appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appurtaining And I do hereby covenant to and with the said MAURICE EVANS that I have before the execution of this Deed full right absolute & lawful authority to sell the said land & premises and agree hereby to warrant and forever defend the right and title of the same to him the said MAURICE EVANS his heirs and assigns forever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
