Will of ZACHARIAH LYON - 1814

 In the name of God Amen. I Zachariah Lyon of Granville County North Carolina being new a soldier at Norfolk in the pay & service of the United States being of sound mind and judgment do make and ordain this my last will and testament.

Item lst I give and bequeath to my beloved wife all my household and kitchen furniture and stock consisting of horses, cattle and hogs during her widowhood and the tract of land on which I now live., to be to her use and behoof during her widowhood after her marriage or death to be equally divided between heirs consisting of three sons (to wit) Robert Lanier, Elkanah, John Michail and one of whom my wife is at this time in a state of pregnancy with, should it be a son I hereby name it Zacheriah if a daughter to be named at the discretion of my wife.

Item 2nd the money I have owing me I wish to be put to the use of paying my just debts and I hereby appoint Robert Lanier and William Lyon my lawfull executors to this my last will and testament given under my hand this the 10th day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fourteen.

The foregoing will of Zacheriah Lyon was duly proven in open court by the oath of Nathaniel M. Taylor a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. At the same time came Robert Lanier forward and qualified as an executor to the same. Test. Step Sneed  clerk
