This Indenture made this 19th day of August in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & fifty two, between ELIZABETH ALSTON of the one part of the County of Warren & ROBERT E. WILLIAMS of the other part of Franklin County both of the State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that the said ELIZABETH ALSTON for and in consideration of the sum of Three thousand dollars to her in hand paid by the said ROBERT E. WILLIAMS, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said ELIZABETH ALSTON, doth hereby acknowledge she the said ELIZABETH ALSTON hath granted, bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant, bargain sell, alien, enfeoff release & confirm- unto the said ROBT E. WILLIAMS his heirs and assigns forever, the following tracts or parcels of land situated, lying and being in the aforesaid county of Warren on both sides of Lebanon road containing Eight hundred & forty four acres be the same more or less first tract bounded as follows, Beginning at a stake on the aforesaid road where the path turns off it going to the late ELIZABETH ALSTON's and known as the Ridge path & running 46° west 53 pole to a black jack at the head of the South prong of Long Branch, thence down the meanders thereof to its junction with the great prong, thence up the meanders thereof to its head at a forked maple thence South 62½ West 182 pole to a stake on the aforesaid road thence with it Sills road thence with Sills road to the head of the Maple [Branch], thence down the meanders of said Maple to a stake, thence South 85½ West 127 pole to a black jack, thence S 2° 10 East 162 pole to two black jacks pointers, thence S 1½ East 130 pole to a red oak thence 79° 40 East 170 pole to a white oak on the aforesaid Maple, thence up the meanders thereof to the mouth of Ginney's Branch thence up the meanders of Ginney's branch to its head. Thence North 58 1/3 East 19 pole to the aforesaid Lebanon road thence with it 274 pole to the beginning- second track beginning at a black jack near the head of Ginney's branch and running South 43° East 210 pole to a post oak near a small branch (thence 47° West 80 pole to a post oak near the head of a small branch) The portion in brackets was interlined in the original, thence North 43° West 210 poles to a pointed corner, Maple Sassafras Willow, oak & pine on the aforesaid Jenney's [sic] branch, thence up the meanders thereof to the beginning. Third and Last track. Beginning at a white oak on Maple branch and running South 79° West 156 poles to the North prong of Graddy branch, thence down the various courses of said branch to the Maple branch, thence up the courses of Maple branch to the first station. the first named tract containing Six hundred & Seventy acres. Second tract one hundred & five acres. The third and last containing Sixty nine acres making in all as above stated Eight hundred & forty four acres. To have & to hold the aforesaid tracts of land & premises with all & singular the appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said ROBERT E. WILLIAMS his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said ROBERT E. WILLIAMS, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said ELIZABETH ALSTON her heirs Executors & administrators & assigns shall & will forever warrant & defend the same to the same to the said ROBERT E. WILLIAMS, his heirs & assigns forever against the lawful claim or claims of all & every person whatsoever. In witness whereof I the said ELIZABETH ALSTON, have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

R. T. ARRINGTON to WILIE LOWERY- 1858

This Indenture made this the 15th day of November A.D. 1858 between R. T. ARRINGTON of the one part and WILIE H. LOWERY (free colored) of the other part both of the County of Warren & State of North Carolina, Witnesseth, that the said R. T. ARRINGTON in consideration of the sum of Twenty five dolls. paid by the said WILIE H. LOWERY the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath this day bargained & sold & doth by these presents bargain, sell & deliver a certain tract of land situated in the said County of Warren on the East side of the road leading from Warrenton to Warrenton Depot, & adjoining the lands of GEN'L M. T. HAWKINS to the said WILIE H. LOWERY said land is bounded as follows beginning at a stake on the side of the road near the Race tract & a few feet South of a pine running one East 316½ links to a stake, thence due South 316½ links to a stake, thence due West 316½ links to the Road, thence along said road to the beginning, containing one acre of land To have and to hold said land & the said R. T. ARRINGTON doth further agree with the said WILIE H. LOWERY his heirs Executors & assigns that he will defend the right and title to said land against the claims of all other persons. In testimony whereof the said R. T. ARRINGTON hath set his hand and seal the day and date above written.
