Know all men by these presents that I WILLIAM EATON SR. of Warren County and the State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear unto my son WILLIAM EATON JR. of the County and State aforesaid. And also in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid by my said son WILLIAM EATON JR. at and before the sealing and delivery & hereof, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, hath given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents, doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said WILLIAM EATON JR. the following named Negroes NAT, FLORA, LEM, MARTHA, BECKY, JOSHUA, LETHY, WELDON & Child, AARON, & Little NAT. To have and to hold the said Negroes hereby given and granted unto the said WILLIAM EATON JR. his heirs Excrs and Administrators forever as his and their own proper goods and chattels. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of September 1835.

ISAAC EVANS to THRIFT and FALCONER-1829

This Indenture made this fifth day of December one thousand eight hundred & Twenty eight between ISAAC EVANS of the first part and WILLIAM THRIFT of the second part both of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina & ALEX H. FALCONER of the County & State aforesaid of the third part, Witnesseth that whereas the said ISAAC EVANS is justly indebted to the said WILL THRIFT in the sum of one hundred & forty dollars, due by notes executed on January 1st 1825 the other January 1826 with interest twelve months after date. And the said ISAAC EVANS being willing and desirous to secure the payment of the same with the lawful interest that may be due thereon now this Indenture witnesseth that for and in consideration of the primises and also of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said A. H. FALCONER the rec't whereof is hereby acknowledged. The said ISAAC EVANS hath bargained sold and made our unto the said A. H. FALCONER his heirs, Exrs. Adm'rs & assigns one piece or parcel of land situate lying & being in the County and State aforesaid & containing by estimation forty six & a half "Acres" more or less adjoining the lands of NATH'L EVANS, JOHN CHEEK & HILLARY CAPPS. Also one gray horse, one brindle cow & heifer, twenty barrels of corn, two stacks of fodder & black & white sow & pigs & bed & furniture. And the said EVANS doth moreover covenant and agree to and with the said A. H. FALCONER that he will defend forever the right and title to the aforesaid property unto him the said A. H. FALCONER his heirs and assigns upon special trust & confidence. That if the said ISAAC EVANS shall pay or cause to be paid unto the said WILL THRIFT the above sum of money with intrest on or before the "eight" day of December, Instant, then this Indenture to be void & of no effect, but if he fails so to do it shall & may be lawfull for the said A. H. FALCONER his heirs &c to make sale of the aforesaid property for the best price that can be got for ready money first giving ten days notice in the said County & out of the proceeds to pay the said WILL THRIFT the above sum of money with all cost &c & the overplus if any to be paid unto the said ISAAC EVANS his heirs &c & if the above does not sell for enough the said EVANS is to pay it otherwise. In witness whereof I the said ISAAC EVANS have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & date above written.

JAMES EVANS to ELIJAH RICHERSON-1802

This indenture made the twenty fourth of November one thousand Eight hundred and two between JAMES EVANS of the County of Warren and State of NC on the one part and ELIJAH RICHERSON of the County of Halifax on the other part witnesseth that the sd JAMES EVANS for and in consideration of the sum of Sixty five pounds current money to him in hand paid and for the consideration of the same hath bargained and sold to the said ELIJAH RICHERSON one tract or parcell of land lying in the County of Warren and said State lying and bound as follows beginning at a corner white oak running north to a corner in CHARLES MARSHALLs line west to JAMES EVANS' other corner thence south to his other corner in SAM'L MARSHALLs' line thence along s'd line east tot he first station containing to fifty acres more or less to the said ELIJAH RICHERSON his heirs & assigns forever with every priviledge and appertainance thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and I the s'd JAMES EVANS do warrant and defend the right and title of s'd tract of land against the claim of myself or any other person as witness my hand and seal this day and date of above written.

JOHN L. EVANS to B. R. BROWNING, Trustee- 1854

This Indenture made and executed this 31st day of October A.D. 1854 between JOHN L. EVANS of the one part and BENJAMIN R. BROWNING of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one Dollar to me in hand paid by the said BENJ'N R. BROWNING the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given, granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth absolutely give grant bargain and sell unto him the said BENJ'N R. BROWNING his heirs exrs, admrs. and assigns forever, the following named slaves to wit, HANASON and LILLY, in trust nevertheless for the following purposes viz, that whereas the said JOHN L. EVANS is justly indebted to JACOB AUGUST in the sum of Ten Hundred & thirty three dollars & Eighty cents due by bond with Interest from the 24th of May 1854 also in the sum of about Two Hundred dollars due by Book account all of which sum the said JOHN L. EVANS is desirous to pay or to secure the payment thereof to the said JACOB AUGUST now therefore this indenture further witnesseth that if the said JOHN L. EVANS shall well & truly pay off and discharge the above mentioned debts with the interest that may be due on the same on or before the first day of January next together with the costs that may accrue in conveying this instrument into effect then and in that case the above obligation is to be void & of no effect otherwise it shall be lawful and the duty of the said BENJ'N R. BROWNING Trustee at the request of the said JACOB AUGUST at any time after the said day of January next to advertise and sell upon twenty days notice at three or more public places in Warren County the above named Negroes at public sale for ready money and out of the proceeds of said sale first to pay the costs in the execution of this deed and then to pay & satisfy the above named claims together with a reasonable compensation for his trouble in the premises and the balance (if any) is to be paid over to the said JOHN L. EVANS his heirs or order In witness whereover I the said JOHN L. EVANS have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal on the day and date first above written.

This indenture made on the 2nd day of February 1855, between JOHN L. EVANS & RICHARD DUNCAN of the first part, and SAM'L BOBBITT of the second part all of the aforesaid County and State, witnesseth, that whereas the said EVANS & DUNCAN is justly indebted to the bank of the State of N. Carolina in the sum of Six hundred Dollars and Interest, to which bond JOHN P. SHEARIN, CLAIBORN SHEARIN and DR. RIDLEY BROWN are securities, and to RIGGAN & NICHOLSON in the sum of Two hundred and forty seven dollars and sixteen cents, and to CLAIBORN SHEARIN in the sum of fifty dollars due the 11th day of October last; and to WILLIAM MYRICK in the sum of fifty seven dollars and sixty eight cents, with interest from the 28th day of January last; And to ADKINS COLEMAN & CO. in the sum of One Hundred and fifty five dollars and seventy six cents with Int. And to THOMAS W. ROOKER for his present services at our saw mill. And to KINCHEN HARRIS for his services amount not recollected, all of which debts they are honestly desirous to secure and pays in consideration thereof and in further consideration of one dollar to there in hand paid by the said SAM'L BOBBITT before the signing, sealing & delivering of these presence, the receipt whereof the said EVANS & DUNCAN doth hereby acknowledge in full the said EVANS & DUNCAN hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said SAM'L BOBBITT the following property (to wit) one Negro woman SUSAN and her child ROSE and Negro woman MINERVA which said property belongs to JOHN L. EVANS and RICHARD DUNCAN conveys on his part all the right title & Interest which he now has or may hereafter have in the Estate of his late father WILLIAM DUNCAN and two wheat thrashers and all the household furniture consisting of bed steads tables &c which he owns in the County of Warren. His heirs Excrs &c in fee simple forever and discharged from any and all incumbrances whatsoever In special trust and confidence, nevertheless, that the said SAM'L BOBBITT shall and will hold keep and apply the same to the uses and intents following & no other that is to say that if the aforesaid debts & any part thereof together with lawful interest that may have accrued on the same shall not be fully paid off and satisfied on or before the 25th day of April 1855, there and in that case it shall be lawful and shall be the duty of the said SAM'L BOBBITT being thereon required by JOHN P. SHEARIN, CLAIBORN SHEARIN and DR. RIDLEY BROWNE or any two of the having first advertised the same at the Court House door in the Town of Warrenton & four other public places in said County and in the Warrenton News for the space of twenty five days to proceed to sell the Negroes, RICHARD DUNCAN's interest as mentioned above and the other property above mentioned at public auction for ready to the highest bidder and convey the same by proper and sufficient assurances to the purchaser or purchasers, and out of the proceeds or monies arising from said sale to retain all the necessary expenses of this trust and then pay off and discharge the said debts & interest or such part thereof as shall remain unpaid at the time of said sale and the overplus if any he shall truly and faithfully return to the said EVANS & DUNCAN or to their representations. In witness whereof the said EVANS & DUNCAN do hereunto set their hands and seal the day and date first above written.

Begining upon THOMAS BLANCHETs line along his line to HUDSON BLANCHETs line thence along his line to SAM'L MARSHALs line then along the sd MARSHAL line to GOODRUM DAVIS's line thence along the said DAVIS's line to the first station for complement. Observing the directions of the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided for runing out lands. two just and fair plans of such survey with a proper certificate annexed to each you are to transmit with this warrant to the Secretary's office without delay.
Given under my hand at office the 10 Day of February Anno. Dom 1781.
