WILL of SARAH KEARNEY-1806

In the Name of God Amen the twenty second day of September, in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & Six.  I Sarah Kearney of Warren County in the No. Carolina; being in perfect health & sound mind & memory; do make ordain, constitute & appoint this my last will & Testament in the following manner.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Harris, one Mare called Nancy Moss, to her & her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my nephew John Brothers one Feather bed, two sheets & counterpains, to him his heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  It is my will & desire that my Executors pay all my just debts out of my stock of Horses, Cattles, Hogs, sheep &c except one Mare called Polly Goldfinder, two Cows & calves & two sows & pigs, which I dispose of as may be seen in my Grandson, Edmond Kearney’s legacy.  And what remains of my stock, after paying my Just debts, I give & bequeath to my son James Kearney, his heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Sarah Williams, one bed two sheets & counterpains, & one gilt Trunk. To her, her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Sarah Brothers Alston one bed, two sheets & counterpains, & all the ready Money except 5 or 6 dollars for my funeral which I possess at my decease & one large silver Saddle to her, her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Mary Cheek one Negro Woman, named Rachel, one Feather bed, two sheets, one bed quilt which she may make choice of, to her, her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  It is my will & desire that if my stock (with the exception in Item third) is not sufficient to pay my Just debts, that as much of my household goods, (not already bequeath’d) be sold to satisfy the same.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Polley Kearney, one bed, two sheets & bed quilt, to her, her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grand Daughter Patsey Kearney, Six China Tea Cups & Saucers & small silver saddle, to her, her heirs & assigns forever.

Item.  It is my will & desire that all my wearing apparel, after my decease, be equally divided between, by Mary Harris, Sarah Williams, & Sarah Kearney, to them, their heirs & ass.s forever.

Item.  I give and bequeath to my grandson Edmond Kearney, all the residue of my estate of what kindsoever, not before given in this my last Will & Testament, to him, his heirs & assigns forever.

Lastly, I constitute & appoint James Kearney and Robert Cheeke Executors to this my last Will & Testament, revoking & disannulling all other wills heretofore made, & acknowledge this my last will & Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal, the day and date first written

N.B. Interlined before assigned in three places, in Item 5th and conclusion of Item 11th.
