Pamlico County .} . . . . . September 12, 1906. . . . . In the name of God, amen, I, WILLIAM A. CARAWAN of Pamlico county and the state aforesaid, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks to the almighty God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed to man to die and in order of this do make this my last will and testament, that is to say:
. . . . . First. My soul to God who gave it to my body, to have a Christian burial, again by the providence of God with the worldly estate he has blessed me with this life to dispose of the same in manner and form as follows:
. . . . . 1st. I begive and bequeath to my two sons, JAMES T. CARAWAN and ALTON R. CARAWAN all my land estate lying near the head of middle prong of Oyster Creeks, Pamlico County herefore said state, the lands I purchased of J. J. McGOWAN, beginning at a gum tree with LINTON's corner on the western side of my west leading ditch, running south 70 east with due variations allotted so as to strike the comer of Joshua's ditch, a stone and a dead black gum, thence with the line of a marked tree south 50 east 65 poles to the Wiley POTTER Land, then south 40 west with a line of a marked tree, Wiley's POTTER line to a corner with a light wood stake, in the back line of the patten and Jacob's line. Then westly with the said Jacob's line 70 poles to Henry EVERETT's northeast corner, then westly with EVERETT's line 45 poles to Jesse CARAWANs corner, thence with JESSE CARAWAN's line 150 poles to the first station. The above-described land is to owned by them equally.
. . . . . 2nd. That JAMES T. CARAWAN pay to his sister, my daughter, Darcus R. LEWIS, $50.00 as soon as may be convenient after my decease.
. . . . . 3rd. That ALVIN R. CARAWAN pay to NETTIE ADELL SPAIN $50.00 as soon as convenient after my decease.
. . . . . The condition in this will is that they pay all of my just debts and their sisters. And I leave my son A. R. CARAWAN, Exec. Of this last will and testament I subscribe with my name below.
