HIGGINS, Jennie – On the afternoon of Jan. 10th, Miss Jennie HIGGINS, of this town, and Mr. J.W. HARRIS of Fort Worth, Texas, were happily married at the home of the bride in east Rutherfordton. The couple were married by the Rev. J.B. CARPENTER, and immediately after the ceremony was performed, they left for Fort Worth, the home of the groom. This marriage was the happy termination of a rather romantic and unusual courtship, which was carried on through the United States mails for many years. It is said that five years ago, through the medium of an advertising agency, a correspondence was begun by the contracting parties, and was constantly kept up until Mr. HARRIS came here a few weeks ago to claim his bride. He is said to be the son of a rich Texas planter, and the couple will make their future home at Fort Worth. Some people say that an advertisement wont’ pay, and those who believe it will not, ought to talk to Mr. HARRIS and be convinced –Tribune.
