HARRIS, J.W. - On the afternoon of Jan. 10th, Miss Jennie HIGGINS, of this town, and Mr. J.W. HARRIS of Fort Worth, Texas, were happily married at the home of the bride in east Rutherfordton. The couple were married by the Rev. J.B. CARPENTER, and immediately after the ceremony was performed, they left for Fort Worth, the home of the groom. This marriage was the happy termination of a rather romantic and unusual courtship, which was carried on through the United States mails for many years. It is said that five years ago, through the medium of an advertising agency, a correspondence was begun by the contracting parties, and was constantly kept up until Mr. HARRIS came here a few weeks ago to claim his bride. He is said to be the son of a rich Texas planter, and the couple will make their future home at Fort Worth. Some people say that an advertisement wont’ pay, and those who believe it will not, ought to talk to Mr. HARRIS and be convinced –Tribune. STEARNS, Frank B. - Mabelle WILSON, the youngest daughter of the late Captain Thos. WILSON, will be married at her mother’s home, 2198 Euclid Ave., at noon, on Wednesday, January 15th, 1902, to Frank B. STEARNS, of 2187 Euclid Ave. The wedding will be a private one, at which only the immediate relatives and close friends of the contracting parties will be present. The ceremony will be performed by Rev. Casper Wistar HIATT, pastor of the Euclid Ave. Congregational church. WEAVER, John – Mr. John WEAVER, a well known young man from near Tryon, Polk County, was married a few days ago to Miss Lubbie RUSSELL, of K.Y. We congratulate Mr. WEAVER on obtaining such a high prize. The contracting parties met in Asheville and came to Spartanburg and got married, took the train for the Charleston exposition, and are now back at the home of the groom’s father. We learn that the young bride is of a very wealthy family and highly accomplished. The News extends to them its best wishes for a long life of happiness.
