LIST OF RICHMOND COUNTY MEN WHO REGISTERED SEPT. 12, 1918 FOR WAR
Source: Rockingham Post-Dispatch, September 26, 1918     Contact: Myrtle Bridges  October 8, 2016

A total of 2679 men registered September 12, 1918, in Richmond County for War, of which number 1630 were
white men, 1048 colored, and 1 Oriental. This list is of historical value, and the registrants and members of their
families should very properly attach a sentiment to it for its deeper meaning.
For many of the men named in this list, their signing up for selective service will be as near as they will
come to active service with the armed forces, but by registering they have shown their willingness. For many others,
registering was the first step toward valorous service in the life and death conflict with the Huns.

The Post-Dispatch is glad to publish this list of men. We would suggest that you preserve it for years to come.
