MEACHAM    November 24, 2005
Am inquiring into the Joseph Franklin MEACHAM line. He is my Great Grandfather, and, I understand,
used to be the Chief of Police of Rockingham at one time. Born 2/14/1868. Died 1/23/1931. Was
supposed to be married to an Ida, but I find this information puzzling...perhaps he married twice,
or 3 times. Buried in Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham. Father of Ruby, Mae Ellen, and Charles MEACHAM,
but there could be more. Mae Ellen is my grandmother, born in 1895, died 1972. Buried in Richfield
Memorial Park. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Deborah Cote Deitz

UNDERWOOD    November 18, 2005
John UNDERWOOD, a mulatto, was born in Richmond County, NC, on November 18, 1804. He was a plowboy in
1812 and later married Louisa Kennihorn on December 1826, in NC. He moved to Linton Township, Vigo
County, Pimento, IN, April 30, 1841. He purchased and farmed 100+ acres of land in Pimento, IN.
He returned to NC for a visit between 1865-68 and brought his elderly mother back to IN. I have
been trying to find the names of both of John's parents. John's mother is not listed on the IN
census; therefore, I am uncertain when she died. She is not listed in the Underwood Cemetery
records, and no other record of her exists here in IN. John is my great-great grandfather. Any
assistance you can give me will be deeply appreciated. Wynona Batton

HERRING / HINSON    November 05, 2005
Loftin H. HERRING and Minnie Mae HINSON were both living in Rockingham in the 1920's. Minnie
was born there and I assume they married there about 1927 or 1928. I have been trying to find
a marriage license for them, but with no luck so far. They are my grandfather and grandmother.
Both have passed away now. Any info greatly appreciated. Wanda Porter

HASTY / LOVIN    November 01, 2005
I am interested in determining who my gg grandmother's parents were. Margaret Catherine HASTY
was married to William R. LOVIN in Richmond County in 1850. I think her father was Thomas
HASTY but am not sure. I saw that Thomas and Nancy HASTY were divorced in 1849. Can I get
a copy of that divorce action to see if the children are mentioned? Clifford Lovin

KNIGHT / BRITT     May 16, 2005
I am looking for any information on the family of Moses KNIGHT (1763-1836). He lived in Wolfpit
District from at least 1800 until his death. I have his military pension records, which names his
surviving children, but have had trouble tracing some of them.

I am descended through his daughter Elizabeth, who married Caleb Curtis, and moved to GA. Elizabeth's
daughter, Frances married David Britt KNIGHT. I believe David, also known as Britt KNIGHT was related,
probably a cousin. Who was his father?

I know this family was close to the BRITT family, and the name Britt is still carried in our family,
but have never found a marriage connection.Brenda Knight Smith

MURPHY / McCORMICK    January 20, 2005
Seeking information on William H. MURPHY who was listed in the 1870 Census for Stewartsville District
as a grocer. At the time, he was age 30 and married to Harriet, age 26. He had two children, Hallie and
Archibald. He is listed many times as a Justice of the Peace in ESTATE RECORDS OF RICHMOND COUNTY, NC
by Myrtle Bridges. He also inherited property from the estate of Catherine McCORMICK when her brother,
