Lancaster Intelligencer (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) 27 May 1806, Tue Raleigh (N.C.) May 12

The following is handed to us, as a correct Transcript of the Proceedings of the Superior Court of Fayetteville District, 
on Saturday, the 3d Inst. and last criminal day: 'Augustin [sic] Brigman sentenced to have both his ears cut off, to remain 
two hours in the pillory, and to receive 39 Lashes, for putting out the eyes of John Wallace.

Cumberland County Court Minutes, 1806
State vs Agustine [sic] Brigman: The following Jury Sworn Hugh McLean, Archd McLean, Albertson Drake, Allen Morrison, 
William  [illegible), John Smith, Joseph Raines?, John Culpepper, Robert Power, Daniel Cameron find the defendant guilty 
in manner offence (?) as charged in the Bill of Indictment (submitted and transcribed by Terri Brigman England)

I wonder who poor, blind John Wallace was????

I agustin [sic] brigman [sic] acknowledge my self indebted to the state the sum of one hundred pounds to be void on Condition 
I make my personal apearance at the next Suceeding Court for the County of richmond [sic] to be held on the second Monday in 
March next insuring and not depart without law and we James Norton & Josua [sic] brigman [sic] do bind our Selves each of us 
in the sum of fifty pound each in like manner to ? on Condition that thea bove sd brigman [sic] do make his apearance as above 
Described. [Signed] Agustin [sic] brigman ( his mark), Josua [sic] Brigman (his mark), James Norton.  Wm Johnson bound in the sum of 
fifty pound to apear a wittnes [sic] for the State against Agustin [sic] brigman at the ensuing Court, William Johnson (his mark), 
D. Swinney 1806, Executed by me Samuel Lee 6 Shilling Cost
