Will of Isaac Armstrong - 1821

In the name of God Amen. I Isaac Armstrong of Richmond Co and state of North Carolina being in a 
low state of health and feeble in body but of a sound and unimpaired mind and memory do on this 9th day 
of September 1821 make and publish this my last will and testament in the following form and manner viz. 
First I give unto my daughter Amelia Alred one negro girl by the name of Rosannah and one cow and calf 
to her proper use forever.  Also I give to my son James Armstrong one Negro boy named Jacob also two 
hundred acres of land including the Munroe Tract and so on west to include the compliment to his proper 
use forever.  Also I give to my grand daughter Elizabeth McCaskill one negro boy named Jerry to her proper 
use forever.  Also I give unto my four grandsons John, Peter, Hampton, and Taylor McCaskill two negro boys 
named Hampton and Jack to be equally divided between them.  Also I leave to my daughter Nancy McCaskill 
during her natural life on negro girl named Betty and at her death to be equally divided between the heirs 
of her body. Also I leave to my beloved wife Mary Armstrong all the rest of my Real and Personal Estate 
during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage to be equally divided between all my 
children.  I hereby make and ordain my son James Armstrong and Stephen Williams Executors of this my last 
will and Testament.  In witness whereof I the said Isaac Armstrong have to this my last will and Testament 
set my hand and seal this day and year before mentioned.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Isaac Armstrong the Testator as his last will and Testament.  
In the presence of Stephen Williams, Mathew Chappell, John Crouch

I Isaac Armstrong annex this as a codicil to my last will and testament.  I give and bequeath to my daughter 
Sarah Jones one negro boy named Juda and her increase to her proper use forever.  In witness whereof I the 
said Isaac Armstrong have to this part annex to my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal published 
and declared by the said Isaac Armstrong be the codicil annex to this my last will and testament in the 
presence of Stephen Williams, Brittain Chappell, John Crouch
