NORTH CAROLINA - Richmond County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, July Term 1862
Mary Newton vs. Murdoch Stephens and wife Lovedy and others. 
Petition for Dower

In this case, it appearing to the satisfaction of Court that Murdoch Stephens and his wife Lovedy [Lovedy Jane Newton] are not inhabitants of this State, 
and that Franklin Wright, James Crowson and Benj. Newton, are in the service of the Confederate States, beyond the limits of this 
State: It is therefore ordered by the Court, that publication be made in the Fayetteville Observer for six weeks, notifying said 
non-residents to appear at the next Term of this Court to be held for the county of Richmond at the Court House in Rockingham, on 
the third Monday of October next, and answer said Petition, or judgment pro confesso will be taken and the same be heard ex parte.
