Coward, James Wm. 5-1-1859 6-2-1884 s/o James L. Coward & Elizabeth Quick Coward He was shot accidently by Boggan Cash.

... "Boggan went next to the Timmons Hotel, where he received all necessary attention. After his wounds were dressed he attempted to return home, but
loss of blood and the exercise he had just taken rendered him too weak to travel and he passed the night at the hotel. Soon Cash was back
on the street once more; and as he passed Brock's Corner where Richards was leaning against a tree, he suddenly wheeled and commenced firing.
The volley, at least three shots from a 38-caliber Smith & Wesson, hit Richards in the chest and seriously wounded James Coward, a bystander.
There were some 75 people in the immediate vicinity. Richards died six days later; Coward, paralyzed from the waist down, lingered until 2
June, when "he quietly passed away, with a smile of recognition to his weeping friends, with the light of heaven in his eyes, and a
prayer of forgiveness upon his lips." Boggan Cash, from "Carnival of Blood" Source: Nancy Steen Norton
