QUIT CLAIM DEED - ALEXANDER BROWN of MISSISSIPPI to ARCHIBALD S. McNEILL

State of North Carolina, Richmond County. August 7, 1865. Know all men by these presents that I Alexander Brown of the State of Mississippi and County of Noxubee for and in consideration of seventy five dollars to me paid by Archibald McNeill of the State of North Carolina and County of Richmond the receipt ~~~~ acknowledged do by these presents grant remise release and forever quit claim unto the said Archibald S. McNeill his heirs and assigns all my right title interest and estate in and to a certain tract of land situated in said County of Richmond, and on the East side of Joes Creek adjoining the lands of Stafford Gibson and the estate land of William Gibson deceased, and others. It being the estate land of my father Hugh Brown late deceased - supposed to contain 341 acres - and also all my right claim and interest that I have in the money belonging to said estate. To have and to hold the above released premises and money to him the said Archibald S. McNeill his heirs and assigns and to his and their use and behoof forever. So that neither I the said Alexander Brown nor my heirs nor any other person or persons claiming by from or under me or them, or in the name, right, or stead of me or them shall or will by any way or means have claim or demand any right or title to the above released land and money thereof forever. In witness whereof I the said Alexander Brown have hereunto set my hand and seal the date above written. (signed) Alexander Brown (x his mark)

Signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of Thomas Gibson and William P. Gibson

State of North Carolina, Richmond County, Register's Office, Rockingham, September 25, 1869. The foregoing deed is duly registered in this office as ordered in Book No I pages 194 and 195. W. R. Terry, Register of Deeds, per B. H. Garrett, Dpd. and Witness
