Generation No. 1

   1.  (Unknown)1 Whitlock (46959);
     I have seen some histories and records that suggest the the father of James David Whitlock
was a James Whitlock however, I do not believe that this is accurate. James Whitlock is found
in the 1830 and 1840 census of Montgomery County and there are no males other than James in
either census. While the burning of the court house in 1837 makes research difficult, it is
apparant from what records do remain that the are a number of Whitlocks that were in the county
who were not enumerated in the ceneus records.
 was born circa 1790 South Carolina. He married Mary (--?--) (46960) circa 1810 Montgomery County,
North Carolina.
   Children of (Unknown)1 Whitlock (46959) and Mary (--?--) (46960) all born Montgomery County,
North Carolina, were as follows:
	 2	i.	Priscilla2 Whitlock (46975);
     In the 1850 census she is shown to be a pauper and an idiot.
 was born circa 1818.
   She is found in the census of Oct 1, 1850 household # 12/12, Montgomery County, North Carolina
	+ 3	ii.	William Whitlock (46974), born circa 1819; married Mary Ann McDonald (46984).
	+ 4	iii.	James David Whitlock (10648), born Dec 3, 1820; married Temperance Moore (10649).
	+ 5	iv.	Rev. Lawson Alexander Whitlock (46976), born circa 1826; married Sarah (--?--)
(46977); married Amanda H. Smith (46978).

(46994), on Aug 18, 1863 the ceremony was performed by John B. Black, Justice of the Peace, Moore
County, North Carolina. He died in 1891 Montgomery or Richmond County, North Carolina. He was
buried in 1891 in the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, near Jackson Springs, Montgomery County, North Carolina.
   He is found in the census of Sep 25, 1860 on page # 241-B; line 16, Carthage, Moore County, North Carolina.
   He is found living in the household of a Eli Brown. The census shows he is a wagoneer.

personal estate valued at $75.00 There is a Tempe Laycocke, female age 64 living in the household.
She was also living in the house next door in the 1860 census. I don't know who she is, but it is
possible that William could have been married previously and this could be his first wife's mother.
  He is found in the census of Jun 1, 1880 on page # 373-D, Mineral Springs, Moore County, North
Carolina. The census shows that he is a farmer.
   Children of William2 Whitlock (46974) and Mary Ann McDonald (46984) were as follows:

     James is not included in the 1870 census although he was born at the time it was taken. The 1870
