Slave Bill of Sale

 
Know all men by these presents that I JAMES W. NIEL Administrator on the Estate of ROBERT SHEPARD Dec'd of the County of Wilkes and State of North Carolina hath for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to him in hand paid by the said JOHN JUDD hath bargained, sold and delivered and by these presents doth full, freely, clearly and absolutely grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said JOHN JUDD his heirs and assigns forever a certain Negro boy known by the name of JERRY, between Seventeen and Eighteen years of age about five foot four Inches high of a yellow complexion the property of the said ROBERT SHEPPARD dec'd which sale of said boy I JAMES W. NIEL Admr warrant and forever defend unto the said JOHN JUDD free and clear from all rite title claims whatsoever shall be made against said boy. In witness whereof I the said JAMES W. NIEL hath hereunto set my hand and fixed his seal this twentyeth day of Sept one thousand Eight hundred and seventeen. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presents of us.
