Sinai Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home in Durham after several years of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Everett Allen, and the daughter of the late George Ressie and Myrtle McBane Zachary. She was retired from B&D Hosiery and was a member of Wicker Street Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Z. Dawson of Chapel Hill and Mrs. Miriam Z. Dean of Snow Camp; and a brother, Mr. Quentin R. Zachary of Burlington. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham by the Rev. Tommy Love, pastor of Wicker Street Baptist Church. Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church cemetery. Coble GRAHAM -- Mr. James Frankie Coble, 54, of 3028 Woodside Avenue, Graham, NC, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a one week critical illness, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a native of Alamance County and was employed by Carolina Farm Credit as a Loan Officer. He was a veteran of the United State Marines and was a graduate of NC State University. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, died at 3:01 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Hospital Durham after six years of failing health. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Edna Wall Coble, who survives, and the son of the late Thomas Coble and Annie Roney Coble. He was a retired self-employed logger and was a member of Concord United Methodist Church , a past chairman of the Trustees and a member of the Administrative Board. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Survivors other than his wife of the home include two sons, Mr. Tommy Coble and wife, Vickie, and Mr. Tim Coble and wife, Jean, all of Graham; a brother, Mr. June Coble of Graham; four grandchildren, Cindy C. Sanes, Teri C. Barrow, Brian Coble, and Whitney Coble; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Bradshaw, Austin Barrow, Wesley Barrow, Tyler Barrow, Trey Barrow, Josh Buchanan, and Alyson Sanes. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Concord United Methodist Church, conducted by Pastor Jeanne Neal. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Silas R. Guthrie, and daughter of the late Oron F. and Dora Ingold Coble. She graduated from Elon College in 1932, and taught in the Alamance County Schools until her retirement. She was an active and faithful member of the Concord United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, headed the flower guild of the church for 50 years, was a member of the U.M.W. and was a lay delegate of the N.C. Annual Methodist Conference. She participated in he Alamance County Fairs and the N.C. State Fair in Raleigh. Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Jolene Guthrie of Burlington, Ms. Fannie G. Zachary of the home; sister, Mrs. Pauline C. Thornton of Burlington; two brothers, Mr. Fred Coble and Mr. Boyd Coble, both of Burlington. Her sister, Mrs. Fannie C. Overman preceded her in death. The Burlington Times-News Dec. 17, 2004 John Kenneth Guthrie CARRBORO John Kenneth Guthrie, died peacefully Dec. 14, 2004, at the Hospice Home in Burlington, N.C. He fought a long courageous battle with cancer. Kenneth as born Aug. 14, 1942, to John and Vedrin Guthrie. He is survived by a sister, Carol Phillips of Roanoke Rapids; a brother, Lee Guthrie of Durham; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, Fannie Zachary, and a special cousin, Jolene Guthrie, a dear friend throughout his life. Kenneth had so many special friends, it would be difficult to mention them. The family expresses deepest appreciation to all of them, especially Diane Witham and Ann Wright, both of Durham. Kenneth was a native of Alamance County and had retired from IBM in Research Triangle Park. He was also a ham radio operator, which he enjoyed very much and made many friends. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, in the Chapel at Walkers Funeral Home in Chapel Hill by the Rev. Jim Greenlee. The Burlington Times-News April 20, 2004 Mrs. Edith Mann Marlette GRAHAM Mrs. Edith Mann Marlette, 83, of Graham, left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home early Monday morning, April 19, 2004, after a brief illness resulting from a stroke. She is now reunited with her husband, William Frank Marlette; brother, Adrian Reid Mann; and parents, Otho Reid Mann and Mary Whitaker Mann; and many other friends and family members who predeceased her. Edith was born in Chatham County, where she grew up a member of Browns Chapel United Methodist Church . She later married Frank Marlette of Alamance County and moved her membership to Concord United Methodist Church , where she served the Lord faithfully all her years. She willingly gave of her musical talents to Concord United Methodist Church, where in past years she served as choir director, choir member, and organist for over 41 years. Prior to retiring in 1983 she worked in the Graduate Admissions Office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. Surviving are her sons, and daughters-in-law, William Reid Marlette and wife, Donna, of Graham, David Franklin Marlette and wife, Phyllis, of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Sherri Marlette Spraggins and husband, Derek, Shaun William Marlette and wife, Heather, and Kristy Michelle Marlette, all of Graham, and Jonathan David Marlette of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Allene D. Mann of Pittsboro; nephew, Steven L. Mann and wife, Dinah, of Raleigh; and a host of cousins. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Concord United Methodist Church . Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Concord United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Alamance County, he was a retired farmer. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Edith Lloyd, Mrs. LaVerne Madden, both of Graham, Mrs. Virginia Smith of Siler City; sisters, Mrs. Mabel Francisco of Siler City, Mrs. Ida Guinn of Glen Raven; five grandchildren. Greensboro News & Record January 7, 1993 Walter Woody SNOW CAMP - Walter Wendell Woody, 70, of 3408 E. Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road died there Jan. 5, 1993. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Concord United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A native of Alamance County, he was a retired dairy farmer and a fireman and member of the board of directors for the Eli Whitney Fire Department. He was Chairman of the Alamance County ACS Committee and the Official Board at his church. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Sarah Marie Stuart Wood; daughter, Mrs. Linda Ambrosio of Simonton, Texas; sons, Thomas Clinton Woody of Greensboro, Wendell Woody of Graham; brother, Harlan Woody of Swepsonville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
