Very Old – Well Established
Some weeks ago we published a notice of the death of Mrs. Catherine Wyatt, and mentioned that she was more than a hundred years old, as we had been credibly informed. Since then we learn the following facts, concerning the date of her birth, and they are as well authenticated, as are the facts establishing the date of birth of any person of old age. They are matter of record, made at or shortly after her birth and still preserved. She was born on the 5th day of December A. D. 1778, hence she was on the day of her death, one hundred years, eight months and five days old. She had been an exemplary member of the Primitive Baptist church, at Deep Creek, for about seventy-five years. She leaves surviving her three children and a large number of grand children and great grand children. She was the widow of Frederick Wyatt deceased and the last of a family of children, all born in the last century, except one brother who still lives in Tennessee.
