A. D. 19 11 , personally appeared before me,
J. D. Kernodle
, C. S. C., in and for the State and County
aforesaid,
Sarah F. Sykes
, age 64
,years, and a resident at
Burlington
post-office in said County and State, and who being duly sworn,
makes the following declaration in order to obtain the pension under the provisions of an
act entitled "An Act to
amend chapter 674 of the Laws of 1907, for the relief of certain Confederate Soldiers,
Sailors and Widows," ratified
March 8, 1909; that she is the widow of the late John
G.
Sykes
who enlisted in Co. F ,
6th
Regiment North Carolina State Troops,
on or about the
day of June
, 186 1 , to serve in the armies
of the late Confederate States. She further states that she was married to said soldier or
sailor before the first day
of January, 1868, and that she is now a widow, and has been for twelve months immediately
preceding this Appli-
cation for Pension, a bona fide resident of North Carolina; that she holds no
office under the United States, or under
any State or county, from which she is receiving the sum of three hundred dollars as
fees or as salary annually; that
she is not worth in her own right, or the right of her late husband, property at its
assessed value for taxation to the
amount of five hundred dollars ($500), nor has she disposed of property of such value by
gift or voluntary conveyance
since the 11th of March, 1885.
That her husband, who was on the
pensions roll of Alamance
Co., died Oct 27, 1910

for the relief of certain Con-
federate Soldiers, Sailors, and Widows," ratified March 8,1909, and the proofs filed
in support thereof; that we are
satisfied that the said Sarah F.
Sykes
is the widow of the late
John G. Sykes
who enlisted in
Company F
,
6th
Regiment of North Carolina State Troops, on or about the
day of June
186 1 . We certify the following allegations set forth in her
application to be true, namely: That she is now a widow;
that she is, and has been for twelve months immediately preceding this Application for
Pension, a bona fide resident of
North Carolina; that she holds no office under the United States, or under any State or
County, from which she is
receiving the sum of three hundred dollars as fees or as salary annually; that she is not
worth in her own right, or
the right of her late husband; property at its assessed value for taxation to the amount
of five hundred dollars ($500),

and therefore her application is correct and just under the act.
