FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR RICHARD J. FITZGERALD<\/p>\n
Funeral services for Richard J. Fitzgerald<\/strong>, aged 82 years, highly esteemed Confederate veteran and citizen of Burlington, who died Tuesday afternoon at his home following a long illness, were held at the late residence yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock by his pastor, Dr. W. R. Potter<\/strong>, and the body interred in the Mebane cemetery. Music was furnished by the First Presbyterian church choir Mr. Fitzgerald was a devoted member of that church.<\/p>\n Active pall-bearers were Ed. Hensley, Glenn Pickett<\/strong>, Tom Horner<\/strong>, C. D. Storey<\/strong>, E. H. Murray<\/strong>, and Boyd Trollinger<\/strong>; honorary pall-bearers were Ed. Thomas<\/strong>, Egbert Trollinger<\/strong>, G. W. Fogleman<\/strong>, and D. J. Walker<\/strong>. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. J. A. Bowden<\/strong>, and were carried by Mesdames G. W. Fogleman<\/strong>, T. S. Faucette, W. L. Burke, Jesse Holt, W. W. Rippy, Emma Trollinger, W. J. Barker,<\/strong> Tom and Ed. Horne<\/strong>r, P. E. Morrow<\/strong>, Walter Crabtree<\/strong> and A. G. Boone<\/strong>, and Misses Mollie Pryor<\/strong>, Lillian Bason<\/strong>, and Beulah Hensley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Mr. Fitzgerald<\/strong> served thru the Civil War and Came here and located as the first white barber in the city. He held this distinction for many years.
