people…I John Gibbs of Arbearmarle County in the province of North
Curlalina Gent…being lawfully posest of a pEcell of land qt three hundred and
fifty acres being on the North River of Curatucke bounding on the land of
James Heath to the south east and northerly on the land of Daniell Laine
& comonly called or knowne by the name of oyster Shell neck or black Charleses
for wch I have a pattent granted me in the yeare 1687 wch yet remains in the
Secrytaryes office in virginia…from Jno Roberts of Eliza River pEish in
the County of Lower Norfolke in virginia…unto the said John Roberts all
my right in the said pattent and land therein expressed…also impower my friend
George Newton of Elizabeth River pEish in the County of Lower Norfolke aforesaid
Gent to appeare in the sd County Court of Lower Norfolke and therein my stead to
acknowledge…this 21th day of July 1690 Know all men…I

stand justly indebted to Jno Roberts of Eliza River pEish in the County

Henry Platt now residing in Little River in the County of Albemarle in North
Carrolin and formly an inhabitant in Eliz River in the County of Lower Norfolk
in Virginia…unto Alexander Forman SenE planter of the County of Lower
Norfolk in Virginia a pcell of land being all my right to a patent for two
hundred & fifty acres of land lying in the County of Lower Norfolk in the woods
towards the head of the Southerne branch of Elizabeth River beginning at a
poplar neare a branch which divides this land and the land of Walter Costin
and running upon Richford Swamp South 125 poles to a white oake, thence East 320
pole into a Swamp thence North 125 pole thence West 320 pole to the beginning
the said patent baring date the 27th day of SepE 1680…I do always except that
part of the abovesaid patent which hath been formerly sold to Joseph Curlin…this
25th day of August 1690
