Wm Roberts of the Northwest River of Curretuck in the County of Albemarle
in the Province of Carrolina, Tanner…have made my well beloved friend William
Balance of Norfolk County in the Collony of Virginia plantE my true &
lawfull atourny…to take into his hands for me, due to me from John Bennett…as
the same is expressed in a bond from the said Bennett the 16th of NovembE

Know all men…I Henry Slade of Albemarle County in Carolina for the
natural love and affection a bare to my son Henry Slade of Norfolk County
in Virgia…unto my said son Henry…two hundred seaventy & eight acres of
wood land being at the head of the Lower (illegible) (torn) in the County of
Norfolk it being pte of a tract of land containing one thousand seaventy (torn)
acres…second day of DecembE 1697
Know all men…Henry Slade of Albemarle County in Carolina…appoynted my
trusty and well beloved friend Richard Silvester of Norfolk County in
Virgia my true & lawfull atourny…to dispose all my land being at the Indian
Creeke…the 5th day of August 1697
This deed indented the 3d day of August 1697 made betwixt Henry Slade SenE
of the one pty & Ralph Mekin of the other…I Henry Slade of the pEcinct of
Corotuck (torn) County of Albemarle of the pvince of Carolina…unto Ralph
Mekin of the County of Norfolk…one hundred acres of land being in the
Easterd Indian Crague joining with the land of Edward Joanes JunE running
a mile into woods & taking its bounds with the creek which (illegible)…this 3d
day of August 1697

JunE the 3d Day of August 1697…I Henry Slade SenE of the precinct of
Corotuck of the County of Albemarle of the province of Carolina…sold unto
Edward Joanes JunE of the County of Norfolk…two h(torn)dred acres of land
lying in the County of Norfolk on the North side of the Northwe(torn) (torn)er &
the Easterd Indian Creek comonly known by the name of (illegible) (torn)ning a
mile in the woods and taking its breadth on the (torn) which said (torn)…this 3d
day of August 1697
To all…I Sr Edmond Andros Kt…grant unto Henry Slade SenE one
thousand seaventy eight acres of high land & low being his seated plantation in
Corotuck precints upon the lower Indian Creeke of the (torn)rthwest River in the
County of Norfolk beginning at a beech near black water (torn) & running first
West seaventy poles to another beech then South west by mark (torn) one hundred
twenty eight poles, thence bounding on the South Eastward side (torn) said
Indian Creek West twenty Eight poles South West by West twenty two (torn) South
West one hundred poles then West half Northerly sixteen poles (torn)rth west
half northerly fifty poles, then (torn) west forty two poles, then West by North
sixty two poles then South (torn) a quarter Westerly one hundred & eighty poles
to a pine neare the mouth of the (torn) then South East by South a quarter
Southerly twenty six poles, then South So(torn) thre quarters Westerly one
hundred fifty six poles to a water oak on Moses P(torn) the river side, then
againe from the first beginning beech & running South by (torn) treese three
hundred and twenty poles to a white oake then West North West one hu(torn)d &
eight poles to a beech then South West by South one hundred & eighteen poles to
a white oake, then West one hundred & twenty poles to a black beech, by a path
that (illegible) to Hector Dams then South by West three quarters
Westerly two hundred & forty poles to the mouth of the Cyprus branch, then North
West by or near the pocoson of the river three hundred thirty two poles to the
water oak on Mosley Poynt,…for the importacon of twenty two psons into this
Collony…dated 29th Day of Aprill 1693
Know all men…I Henry Slade of Corotuck in the province of Carolina do
assigne over all my right of the within menconed patent unto Thomas Brent…excepting
two bills of sale out of the within menconed pattent, and one deed of guift
