His Excelly John Lord Carteret Palatin & the rest of the
True & absoluted Lord Proprietors of Carolina. To all to whom these presents
that come Greeting in Our Lord God Everlasting. Know ye that we the Lords &
Absolute Proprietors according to our great Deed of Grant bearing dates
the first day of May Anno Dom 1668 Given
to our County of Albemarle under our hands & great Seal of owns Province Do
hereby Give & Grant unto William Tillet of our said County a Tract of Land containing
Three hundred and Eight Acres lying in Curratuck precinct on the North Sand
banks beginning at a Live Oak at Francis’s Creek E.N.E160 pole to a Pine
NNW,308 pole to an Oak W.S.W:106 pole to Steels Gutt, S.S.E.308 pole to the
First Station being due for the transportation of one Person for every Fifty
acres appears on Record under this Patent.
To have & to hold the said Land with all the Rights and Priviledges of Hunting Hawking Fishing and Fowling with all Woods Waters &
Rivers with all profits Commodities & hereditaments to the same belonging or
appertaining (Except one half of all Gold & Silver Mines) unto him the sd.
William Tillet his heirs & assigns for ever in as large and ample manner to
all intents & purposes as in & by the said Deed is granted or Intended Yielding
and Paying unto us our heirs & Successrs. Yearly every Twenty Ninth day of
September the ffee Rent of One Shilling for every fifty acres hereby granted to
be holden of us our heirs & Successrs: in ffree & comon Soccage Provided that if
the sd. William Tillet shall not Seat & plant or cause to be Seated &
planted thereon within Three Years after the Date hereof then this patent to be
Void otherwise to stand & be in full force. Given Under the Seal of the
Colony the 31st. Day of Augt. An. Do. 1730. Witness our Trusty & well beloved
Sr. Richd. Everard Bart. Govr. of No.Carolina and the rest of our Trusty &
well beloved Councellrs. who have hereunto set their hands. Lovick, Richd.
