Isaac Baker to Trustees of Pilgrim Baptist Church

8 Oct 1849

This indenture drawn and entered into this Eighth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty nine between Isaac Baker of the State of North Carolina Alexander County of the one part and Litten Millsaps, Jas W Williams, James McCurdy, Isaac McCurdy and W H George of Iredell and Alexander Counties State of North Carolina of the other part witnesseth that the said Isaac Baker hath given unto the above named Litten Millsaps Jas W Williams, James McCurdy, Isaac McCurdy and W H George Trustees of the Baptist Church at Pilgrim a certain parcel of land Bounded as follows, Viz:

Beginning at the spring at the foot of the mountain running South thirty poles to a black oak on the North side of the public road thence West twenty five poles to a persimmon on the North side of sd road thence North twenty two and half poles to a Black gum thence East twenty one and a half poles to a stake thence North twelve poles to a stake thence East one pole to the beginning containing three acres to have and to hold and there successers free of all claims or claimers for the use and benefit of the above named Baptist Church and I the said Isaac Baker do bind myself my heirs my Executors, administrators and assigns by these presents warrant defend forever unto the said trustees there successers in witness hereunto I do set my hand and affix my seal in presants of us

This indenture made this first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one between Able Mayberry of the County of Alexander & State of North Carolina of the one part and Randolph Mayberry of the same county & state of the other part Witnesseth that the said Able Mayberry for the natural love and affection by him entertained for his son Randolph Mayberry and for the further consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said Randolph the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted conveyed unto by this presents doth give grant & convey unto the said Randolph Mayberry a certain peace or parcel of land situtated lyng and being in the county of Alexander & State of North Carolina on the waters of Rocky Creek beginning at a red oak Pinkney Mayberry corner & thence North one hundred thirty five poles to a small black oak saplin Pinkney Mayberry line thence East one hundred & nineteen poles to a stake on James Mayberry line thence with said line South one hundred eighty three poles Mayberry’s line thence with said line South one hundred & eighty three poles to a sassafrass his corner on Pinkney Mayberry’s line thence with said line to the beginning containing one hundred & ten acres be the same more or less together with all and every appurtences thereunto belonging or appertaining unto the said Randolph Mayberry his heirs and the said Able Mayberry for himself & his heirs doth covenant and agree that he will warrant and forever defend the said piece or tract of land from all unlawful claims of any person or persons whomever unto the said Randolph Mayberry & his heirs forever in witness where of the said Able Mayberry hath herento set his hand & seal day and date as above written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Wm J Marlow.
