1808 Price-Strothers Map
This 1808 Price-Strothers map shows the area (delinated in red) located between the Western shore of the Pungo and the county line between Hyde and Beaufort Counties just East of Bath Creek. In 1819, due to their difficulty of attending court at the Hyde county seat of Germantown, on the Eastern side of the Pungo River, citizens of Hyde County living on the Western side of the Pungo River petitioned the General Assembly to be annexed to Beaufort County.
