Note: This is a record of the Lewis and Harrell families with the earliest date being 1782 and the last being 1913. The daughter of Watson Lewis and his second wife Frances Daniel was Carolina Virginia Lewis. She married Hiram Powell Harrell. Harrell had been married previously to Elizabeth Sutton Tyler, daughter of Perry Cotten Tyler and Elizabeth Harrell. The Bible contains records for the children of the Harrell-Tyler marriage.

The Bible descended in the Harrell family. After Hiram Powell Harrell's death in 1913, it was given to his son George Roland Harrell. Following Roland Harrell's death in 1953, it was in the possession of his three daughters: Frances (Mrs. H. Gordon ) Faulkner, Louise (Mrs. C. F. William) Gebelein, and Margaret (Mrs. John A. ) Saylor. In 1997 the Harrell daughters gave the Bible to Anthony Roane Dees, 2103 Springlake Dr. NW, Atlanta, GA. 30305). He is the great-grandson of George Roland Harrell's older half-sister Harriett Ella Harrell.

The records are inscribed as they appear in the Bible. In some cases names were repeated on different pages so they will appear twice. Transcribed by Anthony R. Dees, June, 1999.
