Information received in an email from Jane Henry: Smith-Grimes cemetery is mentioned a couple of times in the "Reaves, Mercer Newkirk Families" book, (a copy located in the Southport Library) but no location is given. Another reference to the cemetery was made in some other genealogy information I received via internet from a researcher of the Grimes Family. It states "The Mary E Grimes family owned the Grimes plantation located on the right at the intersection where you turn to go to Winnabow from Wilmington, NC. There was a Grimes cemetery located there also." The above book mentions that a Thomas Aiken Smith & wife are buried there with no markers at that time. They were the first ones buried there (Page 205.) Page 199 mentions George Aiken Smith & wife Harriet Grimes Smith buried in Grimes Cemetery in Town Creek, Brunswick County.Additional info from Jane Henry: I have recieved new information on the location of the Smith Grimes cemetery. Family members have determined it is not in the location of the Belville development but further down Hwy 133 at the intersection of Daws Creek Road.
