Son, Forney signed witnessed the death certificate. Was buried the day after his death on 10 July 1916. Died of cardiac dropsy.

He stayed with a family of Duncan's while treating them for Diptheria. Forney met his wife Jennie while visiting this family with his dad. They lived up around Pireway.

On her death certificate her father is listed as Jonathan Gore. No mother is listed. She was born out of wedlock and assumed the last name of her mother's husband, Simmons. This information comes from Shaina Fulford Inman, Carden Long's daughter and her granddaughter. Died of cerebral apoplexy. Had cerebral arteriosclerosis for 15 years before her death. Her occupation was listed as a "domestic" meaning she was a homemaker.

During WWII he served in the Navy on the heavy destroyer "Ingraham" and fought in the Phillipines Islands. The ship was nearly lost off Luzon when hit by a Japanese War Plane. He was hospitalized from burns he received and awarded the Purple Heart.

He died at his home in Mission Viejo, California the night before he was to go in for his second heart by-pass operation. Seep apnia, high blood pressure, and a type A personality contributed to his death.

He was a very active Jehovah's Witness. He believed in helping others in need. From his study of the Bible he believed in both a heavenly resurrection and an earthly resurrection. He always believed he would see his family again here on earth in the Paradise prepared by his heavenly father when all those in the Memorial Tombs would be resurrected.

He was one of the top appliance salesmen for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 25 years. He worked on straight commission making a very decent living for his wife and two children. He knew how to make his earnings go a long way. He never wasted anything. Jarvis won many a sales contests which sent him and his wife Margie, all expenses paid, to places like Mexico, Hawaii, and Canada to name just a few.

His favorite food was steamed oysters, which he loved to eat with his sister Mildred.

His favorite vacation was going to Reiglewood, N.C. to visit J.W. and Mildred Gore and the rest of the Long Family.

He was an honest hard working man who seldom sat through a complete T.V. program. He was always busy in the garage repairing washers and dryers and just about eveything else. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. It was in his nature to help anyone in need. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his children and grand children. One call and he'd be there. We miss you Dad!
