This indenture made this Fifth day of
August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine
between Benj Rowell Sr of the county of Brunswick and State of North
Carolina of the one part and John Browning of the other part.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred
dollars to the said Benj Rowell in hand paid by the said John Browning,
the receipt whereof the said Benj Rowell Senr doth hereby acknowledge,
the said Benj have granted, sold, aliened, infeoff, and confirmed and
by these presents do grant, sell, alien, infeoff, and confirm unto the
said John Browning his heirs and assigns for ever a piece or parcel of
land in the County of Brunswick on the Horsepen Branch containing one
hundred acres of land patent by Joel Allen beginning at a pine in
Dunken M Farling's line and running east 40 chains to a pine, then
north 25 chains, then west 40 chains, then south 25 chains, then to the
beginning. To have and to hold the said one hundred acres above
mentioned to the only proper use and behoof of him the said John
Browning, his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Benj Rowell Senr
doth hereby grant for himself and his heirs that he the said Benj
Rowell Senr and his heirs the land before described hereby granted unto
the said John Browning his heirs and assigns against him the said Benj
and his heirs and against all and every other person or persons
whatever the said Benj and his heirs and assigns shall and will forever
warrant and defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said Benj
Rowell has here unto set his hand and seal the day and date above
written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of State of North Carolina |
