Courthouse Records<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Cabarrus County Clerk of Superior Court<\/a>, located in the Cabarrus County Courthouse,\u00a0has court records from 1793, and probate records from 1793.<\/p>\n

The new and current\u00a0Cabarrus County Courthouse<\/a>\u00a0sits in the next block south of the Old Courthouse, and is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Union Street South and Corban Avenue, in downtown Concord.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Cabarrus County Register of Deeds<\/a>\u00a0office has (1) land records from 1784,
\n(2) marriage records from 1792,
\n(3) birth and death records from 1913 to present.

Wills:<\/strong> Recording of wills in Will Book 1 began in 1843, although wills had been copied into the minutes of the county court of pleas and quarter sessions beginning in 1830.\u00a0 In 1875, a courthouse fire destroyed some records, including most of the original wills.\u00a0 The surviving original wills are principally for testators with surnames beginning with the letters H, M, W, and Y.\u00a0 At a later date, these surviving wills were copied into Will Book A.\u00a0 Many of the original wills are missing.<\/p>\n

\nThe\u00a0Lore Room<\/a>\u00a0is located at the Charles A. Cannon Memorial Library branch in downtown Concord, 27 Union Street North, Concord, NC 28025. The collection mainly consists of materials on Cabarrus County history and genealogy from 1750 to the present, and is comprised of genealogy research, books, microfilm, photographs, and vertical subject and family files.\u00a0 Limited resources for the neighboring counties of Iredell, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union are available.
\nThe\u00a0Hinson Room<\/a>\u00a0at the Charles A. Cannon Memorial Library branch in Kannapolis, located at 850 Mountain Street, Kannapolis, NC, focuses on the history of Kannapolis and Cannon Mills.\u00a0 Its resources include genealogy information and a growing accumulation of photos, scrapbooks, yearbooks, and assorted historical information, and is comprised of genealogy research, books, microfilm, photographs and vertical files.
\nOther\u00a0branches<\/a>\u00a0of the county library system are located in the towns of Harrisburg and Mt. Pleasant.<\/p>\n
