I\u00a0<strong>WILLIAM SAWYER\u00a0<\/strong>of the County of Camden and State of North Carolina being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God, do this 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0day of October, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred &amp; Twenty Two make and publish this my Last Will &amp; Testament in manner following that is to say.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0Item. I give &amp; bequeath unto my Son\u00a0<strong>STEPHEN SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0the South end of my plantation, wheron the houses stand that is to say, beginning at the swamp side, near a large Beach, so as to run straight course to the end of an old ditch, that runs from the road about one third across the plantation a straight course, and then turns to the west but the line is to be straight from the swamp, with the straight part as it runs from the road so as to make the line straight from the swamp by running a straight course as the above mentioned ditch to the back line to the HOLLOWELL OLD\u2019S land. One bed and furniture, one desk, one beaufet, one table, one case &amp; bottles, one iron pot trammel, one woolen wheel, and two cows &amp; one calf the ones that he claims, one hand mill to him and his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Item 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0I give &amp; bequeath unto my Grandson\u00a0<strong>JOHN SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0the North end of my plantation that is to say from the ditch up to NEHIMIAH RIGGS\u2019 line and to run from the swamp a straight course to HOLLOWELL OLDS\u2019 line being the remainder of my land beside the peace that I have given to my Son\u00a0<strong>STEPHEN SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0to him &amp; his heirs forever, with the exception of my Son<strong>\u00a0WILLIS SAWYERS\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0lifetime in the land that I have given unto my Grandson\u00a0<strong>JOHN SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0the Son of\u00a0<strong>WILLIS SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0and I also give and bequeath unto my Son\u00a0<strong>WILLIS SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0one chest to him &amp; his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Item 3<sup>rd<\/sup>. I give and bequeath unto my Daughter\u00a0<strong>POLLY SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0one bed and furniture, one chest, one red table chest &amp; drawers, two cows and one calf that she claims, one pewter dish, one iron pot, one loom and harness one linnen wheel to her &amp; her heirs for ever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Item 4<sup>th<\/sup>. I give and bequeath unto my Grandson\u00a0<strong>LEWIS SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0one horse to him &amp; his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Item. I give &amp; bequeath unto my Grandson\u00a0<strong>NELSON SAWYER\u00a0<\/strong>one bed to him &amp; his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Item. I give &amp; bequeath unto my Grandson\u00a0<strong>STEPHEN\u00a0SAWYER<\/strong> one bed to him &amp; his heirs for ever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Item. I give &amp; bequeath unto my Grandson<strong>\u00a0WILLIAM SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0one heifer and her increase to him &amp; his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">The remainder of my property not given away I wish my children to divide among themselves, and I hereby make and ordain my Son\u00a0<strong>STEPHEN\u00a0SAWYER\u00a0<\/strong>Executor of this my Last Will &amp; Testament. In witness whereof I the said\u00a0<strong>WILLIAM SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0have to this my last Will &amp; Testament set my hand and seal the day &amp; year above written.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><strong>WILLIAM SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0seal<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">His x mark<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Signed, sealed &amp; published<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">&amp; declared by the said\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium\">WILLIAM\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><strong>SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0the testator as his<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Last Will &amp; Testament in the<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Presence of us who were present<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">At the time of signing &amp; sealing thereof<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Test. <strong>MILES CARTWRIGHT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium\">CHLOE CARTWRIGHT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Camden County Court<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">February T. 1823<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\">This was exhibited in open Court &amp; proved as the Last Will &amp; Testament of\u00a0<strong>WILLIAM SAWYER<\/strong>\u00a0dec\u2019d by the oath of <strong>MILES CARTWRIGHT<\/strong> a subscribing witness thereto&#8212;and at same time <strong>STEPHEN SAWYER<\/strong> an Executor therein named appeared &amp; qualified as Exec.
