THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>SALLY HATHAWAY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

May 9, 1822<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of God Amen! I\u00a0SALLY HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0of the County of Camden and State of North Carolina being weak in body but sound in mind & memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make & publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz.<\/span><\/p>\n

First. I give & bequeath unto my Nephew\u00a0JAMES HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0Son of\u00a0NATHL.<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0ANGELICA HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0my bureau to him his heirs & assigns forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also give & bequeath to my Sister\u00a0ANGELICA HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0all my crockery ware to her her heirs & assigns forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also give & bequeath to my Sister\u00a0NANCY BELL<\/strong>, one hundred dollars to her heirs & assigns forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

I lend to my Sister\u00a0NANCY BELL<\/strong>\u00a0my negro boy Jerry during her natural life & at her decease I give and bequeath him to\u00a0JAMES HATHAWAY<\/strong>,\u00a0HORATIO N. HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0& the child which my Sister\u00a0ANGELICA\u00a0<\/strong>is now pregnant with—in case of the death of either the sd.\u00a0JAMES<\/strong>,\u00a0HORATIO<\/strong>, or the said child which my said Sister is now pregnant with, for the said Jerry to go to the survivors to them their heirs or assigns forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

I also give & bequeath to\u00a0JAMES HATHAWAY<\/strong>,\u00a0HORATIO N.\u00a0HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0& the child which my Sister\u00a0ANGELICA\u00a0<\/strong>is now pregnant with Five Hundred dollars to remain in the hands of my Sister\u00a0MARY BELL<\/strong>\u00a0& to be laid out in clothing & educating them at her discretion or to remain in her hands, until they arrive at the age of Twenty One Years & in case of her death to leave it with some person she may think proper, to be laid out in the manner they may think proper, either in clothing & educating them or to retain in their hands until the said JAMES<\/strong>,\u00a0HORATIO<\/strong>\u00a0& the child which my Sister\u00a0ANGELICA HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0is now pregnant arrive the age of Twenty One Years, in case of the death of either for it to go to the survivors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly. I give & bequeath to my Sister\u00a0MARY BELL<\/strong>\u00a0all the rest and remainder of my property both personal or real including the place HORATIO N. WILLIAMS<\/strong> bought for me formerly the property of SILAS JONES<\/strong> to her & her heirs and assigns forever she paying all my just debts.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I hereby nominate, constitute, make and appoint my Sister\u00a0MARY\u00a0BELL<\/strong>\u00a0Executrix & my friend HORATIO N. WILLIAMS<\/strong> Executor to this my Last Will & Testament revoking all & every other Will or Wills or Testaments heretofore by me made & acknowledged this & this only to be my last. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the ninth day of May Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty Two.<\/span><\/p>\n

The foregoing was exhibited in open Court & proved to be the Last Will & Testament of\u00a0SARAH HATHAWAY<\/strong>\u00a0by the oath of CALEB G. HOMER<\/strong> a subscribing witness thereto. And at same time MARY BELL<\/strong> and Executrix & HORATIO N. WILLIAMS<\/strong> an Executor therein named appeared & qualified as an Executrix & Executor thereto in due form of Law. Ordered that Testamentary letters issue.<\/span><\/p>\n
