THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>TAMER GODFREY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

November 13, 1821<\/span><\/p>\n

In the name of God Amen! I\u00a0TAMER GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0of Camden County & State of N. Carolina, being of sound & perfect mind & memory calling to mind the certainty of death & the uncertainty of the time thereof do make, publish & ordain this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following that is to say.<\/span><\/p>\n

Imprimis. I give & bequeath to my Brother\u00a0SAMUEL GODFREY<\/strong>, five shillings to be paid him out of my estate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I give to my Brother\u00a0WILLIAM GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0five shillings to be paid him out of my estate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I give to my Brother\u00a0JAMES GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0one note of hand signed by him & payable to me for fifty nine dollars & sixty cents, dated the 8th<\/sup>\u00a0of February 1821. Also one bed & furniture. Also one Red Cow to him & his heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I give & bequeath unto my Brother\u00a0MALACHI GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0forty five dollars, which he now owes me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I give & bequeath unto POLLY SNOWDEN<\/strong>, one sorrel horse, one mahogany table \u00bd dozen tea spoons, one seit of bed curtains, also one negro girl by the name of Molly, all my wearing apparel to her & her heirs forever.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I lend to\u00a0BETSEY GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0Daughter of\u00a0WILLIAM GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0one bed & furniture, one cow & calf & one linen wheel, her choice, & in case she has a lawful heir or heirs, then I give her the afsd. articles to her & her heirs forever, & in case she should die without a lawful heir, then in that case I give the said property which I have lent her to my Brothers\u00a0JAMES<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0MALACHI GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0share & share alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. I give negro man Charles to my neighbour WILLIS WILSON<\/strong> that is to say to be under his care & direction. To be hird out & the one half of the net proceeds of his hire to be paid over to my Brother\u00a0MALACHI\u00a0GODFREY<\/strong>, annually for & during the term of his natural life. And at the death of my Brother\u00a0MALACHI<\/strong>\u00a0I give the one fourth of the net proceeds of the hire of negro man Charles to\u00a0WELTHY GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0Daughter of\u00a0MALACHI GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0& the other fourth of his hire I wish my friend WILLIS WILSON<\/strong> to retain for his trouble.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. It is my will that my Executors hereafter named pay to my negro man Charles, five barrels of Indian Corn, and one sow & shots which I owe him, to be delivered to my friend WILLIS WILSON<\/strong> for him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Item. All the remainder of my estate which I have not already given away I leave to be sold by my executors, and after paying all my just debts I give the net proceeds if any, to my Brothers\u00a0JAMES\u00a0<\/strong>&\u00a0MALACHI GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0to them & their heirs share & share alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly I nominate & appoint my Brother\u00a0JAMES GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0& my friend WILLIS WILSON<\/strong> Executors to this my Last Will & Testament revoking & disannulling all wills heretofore by me made ratifying this & this only to be my Last Will & Testament.<\/span><\/p>\n

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 13th<\/sup>\u00a0day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Twenty one.<\/span><\/p>\n

The foregoing was exhibited in open Court & proved as the Last Will & Testament of\u00a0THAMER GODFREY<\/strong>\u00a0dec\u2019d. by the oaths of SAMUEL WILLIAMS<\/strong> & ABNER H. GRANDY<\/strong> the subscribing witnesses thereto. And at same time JAMES GODFREY<\/strong> one of the executors therin named appeared & qualified as executor thereto. Ordered to be Recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n
